Jonny Lee Miller Joins 'Dexter'
Producing a show about a serial killer poses some major challenges, not the least of which is the fact that you constantly need new co-stars. Think about it. Well, the folks over at Showtime have done some thinking about the problem of bringing fresh meat -- er, talent, that is -- into 'Dexter' for season 5 and they've come up with a solution by the name of Jonny Lee Miller. Yep, according to Variety, Dexter's latest foil will be none other than 'Eli Stone' himself. (Although we have a pretty good idea that Miller won't actually be playing Eli Stone, as awesome as that would be.) Instead, he'll be playing a "a mysterious man who ends up tangled in a storyline with Julia Stiles."
Stiles, of course, is also new to 'Dexter,' meaning that Michael C. Hall will have plenty of potential victims to visit righteous retribution upon. Or protect, maybe. Or whatever his shady deal is, we're never quite sure.
Miller, who was married to Angelina Jolie in the '90s, is arguably best known to TV fans as the eponymous lead on 'Eli Stone,' a lawyer who experienced prophetic visions which may or may not have been the result of either an aneurysm or a message from God. Or both, one can rarely tell with these things. Details of his new 'Dexter' role are still unclear, but we have a feeling he'll be playing a more down to Earth character this time around.
Which is too bad, because a showdown between Eli Stone and Dexter would make for some truly compelling television, pitting one kind of crazy against another. Well, we can still hope. And hey, if you're looking that kind of deranged showdown, there's always 'The View.'
The new season of 'Dexter' kicks off on Sept. 26.
