It's been reported that Jordana Spiro has left the cast of 'Love Bites', the hotly anticipated new show from 'Sex and the City' writer Cindy Chupack.Spiro's still contractually bound to her TBS sitcom 'My Boys,' and even though that seems unlikely to be renewed for a fifth season, NBC was said to be unwilling to risk a clash by giving her a starring role in 'Love Bites'.
The new hour-long romantic comedy is planned for the 2010-11 fall season and was to star Spiro and Becki Newton ('Ugly Betty') in the pivotal roles of Frannie and Annie, two single women exploring the worlds of love and dating while all their friends are getting married around them. It's unclear if Spiro will be replaced in the role of Frannie.
Spiro got her TV break in 'The Huntress' but is best-known for playing tomboyish sportswriter P.J. Franklin in the Chicago-set 'My Boys.' The show debuted on TBS in the fall of 2006 and the fourth season is due to begin airing next month. There's also a potential casting clash for Spiro's co-star Kyle Howard, who plays Bobby Newman in the show, as he's been signed up to star in another new show for NBC, 'Perfect Couples.'
In addition to Cindy Chupack, 'Love Bites' will be executive-produced for NBC by heavy hitters Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner ('The Tudors,' 'Frost/Nixon'). Stars who have signed up to the series include new series regular Greg Grunberg ('Heroes'), who'll be seen having a steamy encounter on a plane with Jennifer Love Hewiit ('Ghost Whisperer').
The fourth season of 'My Boys' debuts July 25th on TBS.
'Love Bites' will air Thursdays at 10PM, beginning this fall.
