TV Ratings: Daytime Emmys Rise; 'Futurama' Sees Healthy Return

Daytime EmmysGood news for Daytime TV fans: According to the Live Feed, last night's Daytime Emmys ceremony was seen by a steady 5.6 million viewers, up 2.9 million viewers from last year's record-low ceremony, which aired on the CW.

The spike in ratings should come as little surprise, considering it aired on network television (CBS) for the first time since 2008. Still, according to preliminary numbers, the ceremony could become the rated major-network telecast in the coveted 18-49 demo.
The 37th annual Daytime Emmy awards aired live from Las Vegas, with Regis Philbin serving as host. The CBS soap 'Bold and the Beautiful' won Best Drama for the second-consecutive year, while Michael Park and Maura West, stars of the soon-to-be-canceled 'As the World Turns,' won Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress trophies, respectively.

Meanwhile, the return of 'Futurama' was a big hit for Comedey Central. The network announced today that the June 24 premiere drew 2.9 million viewers -- Comedy Central's most-watched animated series premiere, 'South Park' not withstanding.
