'The Good Guys' Are Saved by a Brick (VIDEO)

'The Good Guys' Are Saved by a Brick'The Good Guys' (Mon., 9PM ET on Fox) throws together a straight-arrow cop and a reckless maverick cop. And -- as usually happens -- the combination manages to work. On tonight's episode, loose cannon Dan (Bradley Whitford) makes a bet with by-the-book detective Jack (Colin Hanks). When the pair of them can't get department funding, Dan says that he can stop some criminals with his own money -- and by spending only $3.52.

[Spoiler alert.]

The pair are on the trail of a bunch of heroin smugglers. But their efforts to track the bad guys go a little too well. Soon enough, the detectives find themselves trapped in a small general store -- while the villains spray them with machine-gun fire from outside.

All seems lost. But the cops have already managed to steal the large "brick" of heroin from the smugglers. So -- while crawling across the floor to avoid the bullets -- Dan reaches the owner of the store, and buys a novelty doorstop from him. This doorstop just happens to be made of an actual brick.

Dan swaps the drug "brick" with the real brick, ends up foiling the bad guys, and spends less than $3.52 on the doorstop in the process. Mission accomplished! And chalk up another victory for the maverick cop.
