Wardrobe Malfunction on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (VIDEO)

Wardrobe Malfunction on 'So You Think You Can Dance'Why do we watch 'So You Think You Can Dance'? For the dancing? For the technical artistry? Yes, of course, we watch it for those reasons. But then, there are some potential side-benefits as well. And so we present you with these three simple words: Female ... Wardrobe ... Malfunction.

[Spoiler alert.]

On tonight's 'SYTYCD' (Wed., 8PM ET on Fox), Lauren and Neil danced to a Broadway tune, and Lauren was wearing a sparkling 1940s-style dress. And then, things went a little wrong -- when the top strap of her dress broke.

Stunningly, Lauren managed to make it through her entire performance without flashing anyone. (Though the camera seemed to protectively zoom away from her for a second -- remember that this show is being broadcast live.) Even more impressively, Lauren's dance routine was great! Although the judges were also kind of focused on the near-nudity.

While discussing the dance and the wardrobe malfunction, judge Nigel Lythgoe said this: "I enjoyed that tremendously." He instantly got this reply from Mia Michaels: "I'm sure you did!" Zing! Well played, Mia!

Why aren't there any polls? I loved looking at the polls on Idol. It kinda gives you perspective. Can anyone comment on that?

what i loved the most was the fact that her dance partner was doing his best to hold up the strap for her afterward. i thought that was really sweet: instead of gawking in shock like the rest of 'em, he's keeping himself in check and respecting her. it was nice to see.

My point exactly! Who cares about the dress mishap, I like that he dealt with it so well.

This season of SYTYCD is the best by far. The dancers are all great - except for the tap dancer (they are never good) and so much better without Mary Murphy - the most annoying person on TV. Murphy is an unqualified judge who screeches and uses her annoying voice and tamale train as a gimmick to cover up her complete lack of experience and knowledge in all genres of dance except ballroom (bore-room). Good riddance to her and applause to the new format where great dancers dance with great dancers who were on the show during earlier seasons.

True, boy are things different overseas. They have total nudity on some of their versions of America's Got Talent on purpose (just insert a diff. country in the title).

Actually, when the strap comes off he has his hands in her hands. Right?

The only show of its kind worth watching for entertainment value and pure talent. The last segment of the evening was truly magical; I never imagined seeing a ballet dancer perform Hip Hop so well! All of these dancers are extremely good; the show has improved now Mary Mouth has gone. Her replacement, Mia Michaels, does waffle but her credentials are impeccable. The dress malfunction? Pity this had to carry the banner for what was an entertaining evening.
