'My Boys' Star Reid Scott Joins 'The Big C'

While the prognosis isn't looking good for TBS comedy 'My Boys,' which is unlikely to score a fifth season pick-up due to the fact that most folks don't know it exists, star Reid Scott's career prospects are far from terminal. According to Deadline, Scott has just scored a heavily recurring role on Showtime's new dark comedy 'The Big C' opposite Laura Linney. He'll play Dr. Todd, the fresh-faced oncologist treating Linney's Cathy for inoperable cancer, who is described as having "lots of training and intellect but lacks life or professional experience."
While his 'Boys' co-stars Jordana Spiro and Kyle Howard have recently been forced to pull out of regular roles on NBC's 'Love Bites' and 'Perfect Couples' respectively, due to scheduling conflicts with the TBS comedy, Scott is sitting pretty since his part on 'C' is technically recurring, even if he'll likely be pulling a lot of camera time.
Matters are helped by the cable network's smaller episode order (13 in total) which will allow some flexibility in Scott's schedule, as well as the production dates; filming is taking place now for an Aug. 16 premiere. So if hell freezes over and 'My Boys' returns next season, Scott might be multitasking his way across our screens all year.
(We wouldn't complain, he's pretty cute.)
