Betty White Merchandise: Where's the Action Figure?

by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 9th 2010 12:00PM
Betty WhiteIt's no secret that Betty White has taken over the world. Even if you don't have Facebook or watch TV, you've heard about her recent resurgence.

The latest move in her scheme for world domination is a wall calendar. Yes, that's right, you can stare at Betty White's face everyday in your cubicle. Proceeds from the calendar will go to the The Morris Animal Foundation.

There's no stopping her. 'Hot in Cleveland' is one of the summer's most buzzed about new shows -- mostly due to White's presence -- and people are tripping over themselves to honor the actress.

After all the awards, the next biggest honor Betty White deserves is an action figure. Yes, an action figure, not a doll. But, let's not stop there, check out these other products that would surely warm your heart.

She already has T-shirts. Our friends over at Asylum made a Betty White T-shirt, plus BustedTees has a design of their own. Want more shirts? A simple Google search will reveal more than you could ever imagine.

White also released an autobiography, 'Betty White In Person,' in the 1980s, but it's time for a re-release. I smell new content and a spot on the New York Times best seller list.

Here are more ways White can be merchandised:

Betty WhiteAn action figure
The Betty White action figure should be fully possible with at least 36-points of articulation. Accessories should include a gun (you know that picture I'm talking about), cheesecake (a given), a cat (she loves animals) and a Betty White locket for you to wear the 'Golden Girl' close to your heart. Plus, the base of the action figure would have a talking feature filled with White's best wisecracks. I have a spot on my shelf cleared for this, somebody get cracking!

Hot dogs
See the image at left. Need I say more?

Backpack
How fun would it be to have Betty White hold your books and go everywhere with you? I'm not talking about a backpack with Betty White's image on it, no, I'm talking about a full on Betty White backpack like those Star Wars ones seen here.

Silly Bandz
At this point, Betty White's silhouette is pretty recognizable. A pack of 'Golden Girls' Silly Bandz would get me in on this insane trend that's sweeping America.

What proposed Betty White merchandise would you buy?
An action figure.28 (43.1%)
Silly Bandz.4 (6.2%)
A backpack.5 (7.7%)
Hot dogs.1 (1.5%)
All of the above.27 (41.5%)
