Peter Weller is back on the force. The former Robocop has signed to play a darker boy in blue in the next season of 'Dexter.'
According to Deadline, the veteran character actor will portray a troubled Miami cop involved in an internal affairs investigation on the fifth season of the Emmy nominated Showtime drama.
Weller, whose creepy stare and imposing brow were put to good use in a recent episode of 'Fringe,' will appear in 12 upcoming episodes of 'Dexter,' which returns to Showtime on Sept. 26.
The actor, also known for his starring roles in 1984's 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension' and David Cronenberg's 'Naked Lunch,' has also appeared on 'Monk,' '24,' and 'Star Trek: Enterprise.'
Weller joins new faces Julia Stiles, Jonny Lee Miller, Maria Doyle Kennedy, April Lee Hernandez and Shawn Hatosy in the next stage of daddy Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) dark life.
