Kathy Griffin Given Gay-Rights Award, Protests in D.C. (VIDEO)

On 'My Life on the D-List' (Tue., 10PM ET on BRVO), it was all joking aside (eventually) for Kathy Griffin when she accepted an award at the Human Rights Campaign Dinner & Awards Gala. Lance Bass introduced her as his "favorite straight," and Griffin said she should have slept with him when she had the chance.
But then she turned serious and asked the audience to join her in the Capitol to protest the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy.
At the gathering in Washington D.C., Griffin called a soldier to join her onstage. After marching to the White House, he and another soldier handcuffed themselves in protest to the White House gate (and were consequently arrested). Griffin stayed behind to avoid hogging the spotlight.
