david cross'Arrested Development' creator Mitch Hurwitz is getting the band back together -- well, the solid rhythm section, anyway.

Comedian David Cross, who played mustachioed, "never nude" Tobias Fünke on 'Arrested,' has joined the cast of Hurwitz's new Fox series 'Running Wilde,' starring former 'AD' co-star Will Arnett.

According to TV Guide, Cross will appear on the show's first seven episodes.

'Wilde' centers on the budding relationship between Steve Wilde (Arnett), a spoiled and selfish man-child and son of an oil tycoon, and Emily Kabdubic (Keri Russell), an environmental activist and Steve's old high school flame.

Cross will play Andy, Emily's fiancé, a radical environmentalist and Wilde's rival for Emily's affections. The comedian takes over the role from 'Eastbound & Down' alum Andrew Daly, who played the part in the show's original pilot.

Fox has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which premieres in September.

I can't wait to see Fox's advertising for this show - "From the creator of Arrested Development and Sit Down Shut Up - two shows we quickly cancelled!" Of course the latter certainly warranted cancellation. I don't see why Fox wants to be in the Mitch Hurwitz business when they cancelled the best thing he's capable of doing. They should just bring back AD if they really want to be doing business with him. After that horrible Sit Down Shut Up thing, I'm not even sure Hurwitz is the comic genius I thought he was, maybe AD was just a lucky fluke that turned out better than it should have been due to the great cast. I remember Jeffrey Tambor was only supposed to be in the pilot episode but was so funny they made him a full character. So Hurwitz didn't have the comic foresight to have made Tambor a full character at the outset.
