The 'Chaos' theory? If you don't succeed at first, try again.CBS has picked up the Brett Ratner ('Prison Break') and Tom Spezialy (Desperate Housewives') CIA drama starring Freddy Rodriguez as a mid-season replacement, according to a report on Deadline.com. Negotiations had apparently broken down between CBS and Chaos producer 20th Century Fox over terms of the deal and it was left for dead, but discrepancies were reportedly hammered out this week.
The show is signed up for 13 weeks -- not the eight CBS initially wanted -- and the entire cast from the pilot returns, sans Stephen Rea.
Rodriguez returns to the small screen after noted turns on 'Ugly Betty' and 'Six Feet Under' in 'Chaos.' He leads a rogue group of CIA operatives caught in a web of two-timing and agency bungling. Eric Close ('Without a Trace'), James Murray, Tim Blake Nelson and Carmen Ejogo are also on board.
The 'Chaos' signing confirms that CBS will be the place for new dramas in the upcoming season. The network already has the 'Hawaii 5-0,' 'Defenders' and 'Blue Bloods' ready to go and 'Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior' has also been announced as a mid-season replacement.
