Simon Cowell Sued By 'Britain's Got Talent' Contestant
Simon Cowell's been accused of being a bad boy. But didn't we know that already?Cowell is being sued by a contestant on the U.K.'s 'Britain's Got Talent' who claims that she was humiliated and degraded on the show, thanks to the treatment she received from Cowell and co-judge Piers Morgan, according to the Guardian. Before the contestant, Emma Amelia Pearl Czikai, was able to finish the first line of her song, 'You Raise Me Up,' both Cowell and Morgan hit their rejection buzzers.
Czikai's suit, for $3.8 million, cites damages due to the judges' "exploitation, humiliation, degradation and barbarism." She claimed her performance was off because she suffers from cervical spine neuritis, which affects her ability hear her own singing voice in noisy environments.
"I think I speak on behalf of everyone, you have got a horrible singing voice, Emma," Cowell said following her abbreviated performance.
Cowell, the former famously acerbic judge on 'American Idol,' is the creator of the 'Got Talent' franchise.
"This program makes a select number of rich people very very rich on the backs of the ordinary man and woman in the street," Czikai said in a a pre-trial review, which will determine if the suit goes forward.
