Halle Berry and Paul Rudd to Guest Star on 'The Simpsons'

Halle Berry is about to join a hallowed group that includes Mel Gibson, Kim Basinger and Michael Moore: Oscar-Winning guest stars on 'The Simpsons.'

Executive producer Al Jean recently confirmed an episode airing in early 2011 will feature the 'Monster's Ball' actress presenting at the Academy Awards. Bart and Homer are there as nominees for their animated short based on Bart's cartoon web series 'Angry Dad.'

"It's a bit of a satire of the different Oscar acceptances where two people clearly race to the stage to get there first," says Jean. "Homer and Bart are fighting to be the one that accepts."

Will Bart pull an "Adrien Brody" and kiss Berry ... then go on to star in films like 'Splice' and 'Predators'? We can only hope.

Look for Paul Rudd to become a favorite 'Simpsons' guest star when he also graces an episode early next year. He will be voicing Dr. Zander a family therapist who runs a "fathering enrichment class." Homer is finally forced to answer for his poor, borderline-illegal fathering techniques after JumboTron incident involving Bart.

"For 20 years we've shown Homer strangling Bart and we've never had anybody go, 'Oh, that's horrible!'" says Jean. "So Paul Rudd goes, 'That's terrible!' and he tries to cure him."

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be joining Rudd on the episode. According to Jean, "he puts on a Homer wig and then starts strangling Homer to show him how it feels."

Not so sure a group including Mel Gibson can be considered "hallowed."
