New Jersey Governor Says 'Jersey Shore' is "Negative" for the State
So he's not a fan then. During an interview on ABC's 'This Week' New Jersey Governor Chris Christie hit out at the hit MTV reality show, 'Jersey Shore.'As reported by tvguide.com, when host Jake Tapper asked him if he thought the show was "positive" or "negative," Governor Christie replied that it's "negative" for the Garden State. He said the show "takes a bunch of New Yorkers, drops them at the Jersey Shore and tries to make America feel like this is New Jersey."
The Governor's not the only high-profile critic of the show: Last December, the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus pronounced the show "wildly offensive" and said it promotes derogatory ethnic stereotypes.
To the consternation of many locals, Snooki and the gang moved to Miami for the show's second season, but there's no word yet on what Florida Governor Charlie Crist thinks the show will do for the Sunshine State. What is known, though, is that the South Beach hotel where the cast lived during production has scrapped plans for a pricy 'Jersey Shore' suite after deciding that at $2,000 a night it was too expensive for the show's core fans.
The second season of 'Jersey Shore' premieres on MTV July 29 at 10PM ET.
