News Roundup: Gabriel Macht Joins USA Network Pilot, 'Glee' Casts New Faces and More

Gabriel MachtGabriel Macht, known to many for his role in 'The Spirit,' is getting a very 'Legal' state of mind.

Macht has joined the cast of USA Network's new procedural, 'A Legal Mind.' According to Ausiello Files, Macht will play Harvey, a successful attorney at a well-respected Manhattan law firm. Macht's character hires Mike (Patrick J. Adams), a slacker -- yet smart -- college kid who doesn't have a law degree.

The pilot episode was written by Aaron Krosh ('The Deep End'). Krosh will serve as an executive producer along with Doug Liman, Gene Klein and David Bartis.

• Remember 'Glee'? Of course you do. Well, new faces will soon be singing and dancing in the show's second season. Chord Overstreet has been cast as Sam, a protege of Finn's who later becomes his competition. Overstreet, who is also a musician, has appeared on Nickelodeon's 'iCarly.' According to Deadline Hollywood, Overstreet's character will debut in the Sept. 21 season premiere.

Also on tap for 'Glee' season 2 is a female football coach. TV Guide is reporting that Dot Jones has been cast in the role, but just because she's a sporty female doesn't mean she'll be the first recurring lesbian character on the show. "There's only room on the show for one gay character," Chris Colfer told TV Guide.

• G4 has ordered four anime shows based on Marvel Comics characters Iron Man, Wolverine, the X-Men and Blade. According to LiveFeed, G4 has teamed with Sony to produce these shows that each have 12 episode runs. The shows will be produced by comic book scribe Warren Ellis and have a 2011 premiere date. • Felicia Day fans pay attention! The Internet series veteran is joining 'Eureka' for 10 episodes. Yes, 10. Polly Walker, of 'Rome' and 'Caprica' fame, is heading to 'Sanctuary' for two episodes, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Walker is set to play Ranna, a foe who faces off with Helen Magnus.

'Cagney and Lacey' writer Norman Chandler Fox has died. Fox had suffered from Parkinson's disease for more than 15 years. His writing credits include 'Fame,' 'Three's a Crowd' and 'Nine to Five.' According to Variety, Fox's producing credits include the miniseries 'The Black Beauty' and TV movies such as 'Tail Gunner Joe' and 'Once Upon a Family.'
