'Big Brother 12' Finale to Air After the Debut of 'Survivor: Nicaragua'

by Ryan McKee, posted Jul 27th 2010 11:00AM
When the first seasons of 'Big Brother' and 'Survivor' premiered, critics hypothesized how long the reality show fad would run. It's unlikely any of them guessed that the two shows would still be successful today.

'Big Brother' is enjoying its strongest ratings ever with season 12. Now, CBS is banking on their summer hit to help usher in their fall lineup. The season will conclude on Sept. 15 with a two-hour finale immediately following the debut of 'Survivor: Nicaragua.' This is the first time since 'Survivor: Borneo' in 2000 that the series will air in the 8PM Wednesday slot.

In its 21st season, 'Survivor' will feature former Cowboys and Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson as a contestant. The 67-year old is known for his hot temper and quick mind, but it remains to be seen if any of that will help him in the jungle. Host, Jeff Probst has also announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will return, but will be much harder to find than in th epast.

If you have any guesses on how Mr. Johnson will fare, please leave them in the comments below. Also, which contestants in 'Big Brother 12' do you think we'll be season come September? Can Britney hold on after she used the Power of Veto on herself?

How ironic that BB gets its best ratings ever in a year in which it not only has the most boring cast ever, but in which its big "twist" got blown out of the water immediately when the saboteur was sent home first.
