Troy Aikman Heading to 'Dancing With the Stars' ... or Not?
Former Dallas Cowboys football star Troy Aikman may be after a new title: 'Dancing With the Stars' champion.Yep, that's right, the footballer told TMZ.com that he'll be on 'Dancing With the Stars' season 11. However, according to GossipCop and its source close to the dance series, Aikman was just kidding.
Was he joking and just trying to get his name out there to producers or was he backpedaling for fear of being kicked out of the cast before the premiere?
ABC has yet to officially announce the cast, and it's often frowned upon for a cast member to make any announcement before the network.
Aikman isn't the only rumored star starting rumors about joining the cast. Who else is campaigning? Read on to find out.
On July 28, 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star Teresa Giudice tweeted, "I am thinking about doing "Dancing with the Stars" though. What do you guys think? xx." Giudice is reportedly having heaps of financial troubles -- would a 'DWTS' paycheck help at all?
TMZ is reporting that 'Jersey Shore' star Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino is secretly negotiating to join the cast, though his manager has refuted that rumor.
Olympian Johnny Weir has been after the mirrorball trophy for some time, and he even has one of the 'Dancing' pros on his side. Weir told HollywoodLife.com back in June that he'd be up for 'Dancing,' especially if Karina Smirnoff returned to the series as his partner. "I met Karina Smirnoff a few weeks ago and she was like, 'Johnny, you are the perfect height for me. Let's dance.' So ... it's on. I've chosen my partner, I'm ready," he told the blog.
Jon Gosselin told E! News that he wants back on TV, but will 'Dancing' be that venue? "I know I have rhythm and I know I can dance, but I don't know about me going on. No one has said anything to me," he told E!. "But I took ballroom dancing. I'm pretty fluent in that sort of thing. But after watching it I'm like, Ugh, so much criticism. I think you should go out there and just have fun anyway." Would Jon bring high ratings like his ex-wife, Kate? Probably not.
Soccer star Landon Donovan, America's most recent sports hero, is being courted by 'DWTS,' according to HollywoodLife.com. A source told the blog, "We want Landon to be on the show. After that miracle goal he instantly thrust himself into America's hearts. We will be contacting him in the very near future."
These are just a few of the many rumors swirling around the Internet, many of them started by the stars themselves. 'DWTS' premieres Mon., Sept. 20.
