'Big Brother 12' - 'Live Eviction #3, Head of Household #4' Recap

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Jul 30th 2010 12:15AM
Kathy and Andrew are on the block in the 'Big Brother 12' house(S12E10) Two floaters are up for eviction in the 'Big Brother 12' house. Sure, it's a way for Matt to not make waves with the power couple in the house while not totally alienating himself from his own Brigade alliance. Matt's nominations were just about as gutsy as fisticuffs with butterflies. Or, were they?

It all depends on the reaction of the nominees, doesn't it? Perhaps the nominations were the chicken man's way out. However, the nominees themselves might be able to save this show from continuing to be a total yawn-fest. They definitely need something to get it out of the doldrums.

The show really started with Andrew's Power of Veto plea and the reactions of the others to it. I don't know -- Matt can tell stupid lies, get caught red-handed, squirm and lie with that doofus-grin on his face and people seem to buy it. Andrew lies straight-faced about his plan to go after Rachel and Brendon and no one believes him. It had to be the ludicrous ending when he asked Brendon to save him with the veto. You'd think a podiatrist would know better than to start off on the wrong foot.

I don't even know how to take Brendon and Rachel anymore. After three weeks, he's actually declaring his love for her? What the heck is up with that? She doesn't even treat him well. She's upset that he didn't tell her about Andrew's planned speech and ranted about him keeping secrets from her. "I love you, Rachel," the silly puppy pleads. "You lied to me," she snarls. The man, however wrong he might be, just told her he loves her and she totally ignores it. She's willing to give up the winnings to keep him in the house, yet she doubts him. I don't live in their world. I'm glad I don't.

While Kathy's "keep me" campaign consisted of "Woe is me, my life is so hard, cancer, son needs to go to college, hard life, tough times, etc.," Andrew's approach to campaigning was very different. Kathy went to each and every hamster with her tales of need and woe. Andrew apparently expected them to come to him. Catching Kathy and Kristen in the bathroom, he told them, "You two are playing me like a fiddle and I don't like it."

With that we have the first real skirmish of the season. Maybe Kathy isn't willing to confront him, but Kristen certainly has no fear. As Andrew kept accusing her of not coming to comfort him in his time of need, she hit back with the fact that he could have come to her. She had told everyone she'd be there for Kathy. She would have been there for him too had he just approached her. After a heated exchange, Andrew went off to the Have Not room to have a good cry.

All of the house heard the confrontation. This isn't going to bode too well for Captain Kosher, despite any spin they might try to put on it in editing. Of the two, to be honest, I'd personally rather Andrew stay in the house. He's more interesting to watch. I realize Kathy has her sob story. But I always take the stance that if people need money that bad, it's better to work more and not be on reality television shows.

Finally, most of the pre-filmed part of the show was over and Julie talked to the house guests. Lane misses spotlighting animals and killing them. He should give 'Home Improvement' grunts after he talks. After a cute back and forth with Julie, Enzo and the way he speaks, Julie announced no one would be on slop this week. In her "private" talk with Matt, Matt was still all full of himself. No way is the doofus the best player ever. In an earlier taped segment, it didn't seem like his wife was all that pleased with the lie he told about her health. The man needs to go on the block, I say.

When it came time for the nominees' speeches, Kathy's was short and sweet, full of sunshine and lollipops. Then came Hurricane Andrew. I couldn't even keep up with the guy as he was sputtering so much so quickly. He outed the Kristen/Hayden "secret" alliance (although most of the house suspected something anyway), said everyone talks about how dumb Enzo is, he (Andrew) never was going to go after Rachel and Brendon, Kristen is the Tin Man, spew, spew, Captain Kosher out!

Well, he said it ... and that's what he got. Captain Kosher was voted out of the house in a unanimous vote. He said cordial goodbyes with hugs, handshakes and a Mazel Tov or two and was composed in his talk with Julie. Most of the goodbye messages weren't too bad ... and then there was Rachel's inevitable "You were trying to come between me and my MAN!" Are we going to hear this every week? This is the third time. Brendon, wake up and drop this possessive crying vindictive so-and-so!

So, who wins Head of Household? Sigh ... Rachel. That's not quite the winner I wanted, but at least this was a very telling competition. It was a question and answer putting two hamsters up against each other. Kristen kept putting Rachel up and you know Rachel noticed that! Hayden pitted Brendon against Rachel. It looks like no one is really after Lane and Kathy, One good thing about Rachel winning HoH is that we might actually have some hamster action this week. No, I'm not talking about the undercover showmance stuff. I want a brouhaha!

Julie Chen also announced that the saboteur will do a return to the show. Annie isn't coming back, but viewers can vote online at the CBS website for their choice of saboteur and then direct the action. It will last two weeks and, if the saboteur lasts, he or she will win $20,000. I know I'm showing my evil dark side here, but I'd like to see Brendon win it and we could have him sabotage Rachel.

Who will Rachel put on the block with Kristen (pretty much a given)?
Enzo11 (1.6%)
Kathy33 (4.7%)
Ragan13 (1.9%)
Lane9 (1.3%)
Hayden457 (65.5%)
Britney44 (6.3%)
Brendon15 (2.1%)
Matt116 (16.6%)

Finally the Big Brother I know and love. I've been waiting to be excited about anything so far this season. I love to hate Rachel and Brendon (Rachel, please fix your roots and Brendon, love? seriously). But I hate the Brigade more than Rachel. I think Andrew is one of the dumber players in Big Brother history. Julie was right, he should have used the Hayden/Kristen thing to his advantage. Both his speeched backfired on him and he just didn't get it at all.

Quite possibly the greatest plea to stay in the history of BB. Unfortunately, there was probably nothing he could have done to change his fate. Matt had 4 votes locked in, even if he didn't know about Kristen. Leroy makes a good point about Brenchel's lack of understanding about BB strategy. They need to get rid of Matt or Hayden and forget about Kristen. How anyone can trust Matt at this point escapes me. He's so slimey it's sickening. But then again, that tends to be the attribute of a BB winner.

Both times when they could have eliminated Rachel she stayed. The first time when they thought Annie was a bigger threat and then when Matt didn't put her and Brendon up.
Getting rid of weak players doesn't not help anyone.

I don't think Rachel and Brendon have shown that they understand BB strategy as well as the poll results suggest. It's obvious to us that if you want a couple split up, you put them both on the block so that there is no way one can win the veto and take the other off, leaving them both at large. I think she'll put up Kristen and Kathy, planning to put Hayden up if the veto is used. This will probably backfire when Hayden wins the veto and takes Kristen off.

I suspect he knew a day or so before that he was going home and he came out with this rant.
I thought Rachel and Brendon knew that Kristen was with Hayden. They were in the HOH bedroom with her when she was last HOH.

I loved Andrew's speech even if it did nothing to save him. Made the whole show worthwhile.

Having Rachel "red on the head like a dick on a dog" win HOH is going to be more unbearable baby talk with her idiot boyfriend for another week. The best thing you have on this show is Kristen, and if she goes this show is a fraud.
