'Entourage' - 'Bottoms Up' Recap
(S07E05) Well, that was a racy 28 minutes.Vince had a new hook-up Sunday night: Porn star Sasha Grey. As Scott Lavin points out, Sasha's known for her, er, behind work in front of the camera. The 'Entourage' guys and Scott engage in a discussion about the merits of, um, Greek love, and it's quite a lively scene. It's not one for the whole family, but the sharp writing and locker room-type banter about a topic rarely discussed outside of the internet was revealing and well done. A precautionary mention about the higher chance of STDs from the act would have been helpful, but still, it was entertaining.
Eric and Sloan's scene toward the close of the episode was definitely very edgy stuff. No nudity, but they were shown performing the aforementioned act, alas not to completion. Sloan wanted to give it a try after she found out that Eric had Googled it. On the whole, it was a "did I just see what I think I saw?" moment. Real water cooler stuff.
Let's talk about Vince and Sasha. On the one hand, she seems to be a stabilizing influence. Telling him to change his shirt before the meeting with Randall Wallace and Stan Lee (creator of Spider-Man and the Marvel universe of comic book heroes) to discuss a possible Air-Walker movie is good. Drinking tequila with Vince in the morning and making out with him in Lee's office is bad. Let's say after one episode, we don't have a read on how the real Sasha Grey will be portraying the fictional Sasha Grey, but we're interested.
As for Vince, we have a step in his spiraling-out in this episode. He's taking Vicodin to ease the pain from his stunt accident in this season's first episode. Not a good sign, and it's not good that he's combining it with tequila, no matter how tasty Turtle's tequila is.
Speaking of which, Turtle is moving ahead with his attempt to get Vince on-board as a pitchman for his Arion Tequila. He first approached Eric, who nixed the idea, but toward the end of the episode he persuaded Vince by himself -- with the help of a little herb and the tequila.
Ari Gold spent much of this episode try to persuade clients -- Mike Tyson, Jessica Simpson and Aaron Sorkin -- not to leave TMA. Lizzie Grant is on the warpath after leaving the agency and is attempting to take clients away.
So it's Ari to the rescue.
He tells Tyson -- who was great by the way -- that his concept of a "black 'Brady Bunch'" is workable, gives Simpson a poodle and steers her toward a seemingly lovelorn Sorkin. All three are retained in a wonderful piece of television.
However, Ari might still have trouble from Lizzie. He gets a call while he's in bed with Mrs. Ari -- who looked fabulous -- from Amanda Daniels. She's in cahoots with Lizzie, who has been keeping a diary of her last six months at TMA. Amanda says she will make life very difficult for Ari without going into further details. Our guess is that Lizzie will file a harassment lawsuit against Ari and TMA for creating a hostile workplace. Some of the things that Ari says are not appropriate for the workplace. Take, for instance, Ari's racist crack about Lloyd and the Simpson poodle in this episode -- not acceptable in the workplace. Or anywhere else.
Looks like Drama has lost his Maui Four Seasons comedy with John Stamos. Okay, what's new, you ask? The way he lost it. To Stamos's 'Full House' co-star Bob Saget, who wants to reunite with Stamos. Drama confronts Saget at his home with a baseball bat. After Saget makes Drama wise to the ways of Hollywood, Drama sheepishly turns and leaves.
Perhaps the name of this episode -- 'Bottoms Up' -- suits what happened to Drama best.
Quick edits:
"And if Bobby doesn't listen to you, you bite his ear off." - Ari to Mike Tyson on Tyson's concept of the 'The Brady Bunch.'
Not board with it - Loved the great Silver Surfer poster behind Stan Lee's desk. It looks like a classic Jack Kirby drawing.
Outro music - 'Don't Give It Away' by FreeSol.
