Writer Diablo Cody has found success on the big screen ('Juno') and premium cable (Showtime's 'United States of Tara'), and now she's heading to network television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cody just sold a new comedy pilot to Fox.THR notes that Cody agreed to a "put-pilot deal," where there are financial consequences for the network if it doesn't air the pilot. Warner Brothers will produce the project, called 'The Breadwinner,' with Cody and Mason Novick executive producing. No details about possible plot or casting were released.
Cody's schedule is already full with several projects in the works. She is re-teaming with 'Juno' director Jason Reitman for 'Young Adult,' a film about a young adult fiction ghostwriter who will be played by Charlize Theron. Cody is also adapting the 'Sweet Valley High' novels into films, and is producing the film adaptation of the zombie romance novel 'Breathers: A Zombie's Lament' by S.G. Browne.
Fox will debut two new comedies this fall, 'Running Wilde' and 'Raising Hope.'
