Jeff Foxworthy is a shark? Who knew? America's most famous redneck is joining 'Shark Tank,' ABC's just-renewed reality series that gives entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of major tycoons, or "sharks."
According to The Live Feed, funnyman Foxworthy will join the shark panel for three episodes set to air next year.
ABC has ordered eight new episodes of the Mark Burnett-produced series ('Survivor,' 'The Apprentice') from Sony TV. Production resumes in the fall for a 2011 premiere.
The original five sharks -- venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, infomercial vet Kevin Harrington, tech millionaire Robert Herjavec, and FUBU owner Daymond John --- have all signed on to return.
What are Foxworthy's qualifications for joining the panel? Besides previously hosting Burnett's 'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,' ABC says the comedian has turned his oh-so-'90s "You Might Be a Redneck" catchphrase into a money-making machine with books, comedy albums and, of course, his own lines of beef jerky and BBQ sauce.
