Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth: 'V'

Spoilers AnonymousThis is Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth, a weekly column here at TV Squad where we discuss and give our two cents about recently released spoilers and how they may affect the storylines, shows and fans.

This in-depth version of the column goes hand in hand with our weekly spoilers column in which we supply you with the dirt on some of the more popular shows on the air.

This week, we discuss spoilers recently released for the upcoming season of 'V.'

As a child, I remember watching the original mini-series and sole TV season with my mother. I still can't believe my parents allowed me to watch such a series but that's another story. The original 'V' series impressed me as a child and I talked about the first time we saw a V eat an animal for years after that!

As a fan of the original 'V,' it was normal that I would tune in for the remake, especially since 'Firefly's' Morena Baccarin was part of the show as lead Visitor. Even if this reboot of 'V' had a not-so-stellar start, I stayed a fan of the show throughout the first season. The episodes got better and better each week.

I must admit that I didn't recall much of the original series as I watched the new 'V' these past months. I remember the lizard side of the Vs, the fact they ate animals and humans, what the Fifth Column was all about, and how evil mastermind Diana was. Thanks to CTV.ca, I was able to watch the mini-series and the 19 episodes of the original series over the summer. So I'm going into the second season of the new 'V' with all the knowledge of the original series.

ABC confirms that the second season will feature more character and lizard reveals, and more details about the Visitors' mythology. Other spoilers claim that we will find out how long the Vs have been on Earth and whether and how they've changed world history.

With my newly regained knowledge of the original Visitors, I can't wait to see how the new series will tackle the Visitors' mythology. I'm eager to see how they will stay true to the original and how they will drift away. For example, the new Vs have more powerful technology and better computers than Diana and company had almost 25 years ago. But do they still observe the somewhat tribal ceremonies the original Vs did, such as the fight to the death Diana and Lydia went through -- none died as the fight was stopped -- or the sacrifice of the youngest warrior, etc.?

Other tidbits I want to get about the Visitors are what their home planet looked like and what life is like there. That's something the original series lacked but it could have been because visual effects were too rudimentary at the time. Budget could have played a role too.

One twist the new 'V' has given us is the fact that Visitors have been on Earth for a while. That's a topic we need to get more intel on so I welcome the news that this is something the upcoming season will get into. Have the Vs been on Earth for decades? If so, how did they arrive on Earth and manage not to be caught by the government and/or military? Then again, we didn't always have satellites around Earth and monitor the air space closely. Will the show push the envelope and claim that some of the Roswell sightings be Visitors? Or that the government at the time the first Vs came on Earth knew of the arrivals and kept it a secret for whatever reasons? Maybe I'm pushing this too far, but the possibilities are there.

Other spoilers were released over the summer for the series. But the best of them all was that Jane Badler, who played alien leading lady Diana on the original mini-series and series, has been cast as a recurring guest star. Her character, named ... Diana (!), will turn out to be Anna's mother. This new Diana will play an important role in the Vs' mythology.

Diana was by far my favorite character on the original series. Jane Badler portrayed this badass and evil character perfectly! If she hasn't lost her "Diana" magic and if the 'V' writers shape Anna's mother to be an evil leader, you can expect fireworks, backstabbing, catfights and so much more! I can already picture the scene where Anna's mother discovers that she is not on her home world but is on the mother ship. (Spoilers say that Anna set up a secret section on the mother ship that looks like on of 'Star Trek's' holodeck so that her mother would think she is still on her home planet.) Her claws will more than likely come out when she'll learn the truth to our viewing pleasure.

What I look forward more about the addition of Anna's mother is that we will not only get more show mythology but we will also get to see someone who may be able to control Anna and give her a taste of her own medicine. We are used to see Anna be almost 100 percent in control of her emotions -- although her tough shell started to crack in the last episodes -- and be a fierce leader. Will she turn into a sheep when in her mother's presence? Twists, turns, and drama are in store for Anna's family!

What are you looking for this upcoming season? What Visitor secrets do you want to learn about? Are you happy with the addition of Jane Badler to the cast?

'V' returns this fall on ABC.

V had LOST to bring in viewers for season 1. I'm not holding out much hope for season 2, though, the finale was very good.
