"Aftermath," indeed. On the latest episode of 'Aftermath With William Shatner' (Mon., 10PM ET on BIO), our host talks to three survivors of the 2002 Washington D.C. sniper shootings. Previously, Shatner had interviewed sniper Lee Malvo -- the killer himself. Now, he talks to the people who managed to escape the deadly incident. ... So, what does it feel like to survive?Lee Malvo and his partner killed 10 people during their brief reign of terror. And the guests on the show have some conflicted feelings about the whole thing. They seem upset. But also happy to have lived. One of the survivors says that he's won just by not being killed by the sniper. "It didn't destroy my life; [he] didn't get me," the man says.
The survivors seem oddly at peace. Perhaps its a peace coming from escaping a near-death experience. Or perhaps it's a peace that comes from knowing that their lives will continue, no matter what.
