Could a New ABC Family Series Be the Long-Awaited 'Arrested Development' Sequel in Disguise?

That 'Arrested Development' movie might be a long time coming, but after reading about a new series ABC Family is currently developing, it sounds like a TV sequel is more likely. The ABC Family show, called 'What Would Jane Do, is described as a drama about a high school girl who, due to a case of mistaken identity, leads a secret double life as a high-powered career woman. We have two suggestions on how to make that show a success -- or, actually, on how to make that show last three wonderful but under-watched seasons, turning it into a cult favorite with a rabidly devoted following: cast Alia Shawkat in the lead and call it 'Marry Me.'
Did any other 'AD' fans just get a Maeby Fünke-as-film executive flashback? During the show's second season, the troublemaking teenage daughter of Portia De Rossi's Lindsay Bluth and David Cross's Tobias Fünke conned her way into landing a job as the high-powered head of a movie studio.
Whenever anyone commented on her young appearance, Maeby would respond with an oh-gee-I'm-so-flattered "Marry me."
While we think turning the new show into an 'Arrested Development' spinoff would be a fantastic idea, the odds of that actually happening are about as likely as the 'AD' movie coming out in the next two years. (Read: impossible.)
Besides, as you can see from this clip, the charade couldn't last forever.
Would you watch a Maeby Fünke-led spinoff on ABC Family?
