Neil Patrick Harris and Partner Due to Have Twins

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, David Burtka, are expecting twins via a surrogate mother.

According to E! Online, Harris and Burtka will welcome their new bundles of joy this October. The couple has been busy planning a baby shower.

Harris tweeted confirmation of the news. "So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy..."

Harris has been nominated for three Emmys this year, one of his role on 'How I Met Your Mother,' one for hosting the Tony Awards and the third for his guest stint on 'Glee.' Burtka is a chef and actor. He's appeared on 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Top Chef Masters.'

According to E! Online, Harris and Burtka reportedly visited a surrogacy agency a year ago.

The couple has been together for about six years.
