Crumbling Cakes Cause Chaos on 'Cake Boss' (VIDEO)

Cake BossThe danger we see on most of these cake-oriented reality shows isn't that the cakes taste bad or they're made badly, it's from crumbling. Watch 'Challenge' on Food Network or 'Cake Boss' (Monday nights at 9PM ET on TLC) and there's always a panic when the cakes start to fall apart or tip over. This clip from 'Cake Boss' shows a cake building falling down. Luckily, Joey was there to fix the problem.

Like most problems in life, the solution is butter cream.

I absolutely agree. As beautiful as they are, how much of these "cakes" can you actually eat? We have seen some of these people sculpt amazing figures out of cake, so we know it's not impossible-it just takes a lot of skill. Those are the creations that impress me the most.

I agree with WTF. The people making these things definitly have talent but they are using medium like the Rice Krispie Treats, Molding Chocolate and a host of other things that are not cake and claiming that it is cake. I do not have that kind of artistic talent and could not accomplish what they accomplish but lets call a spade a spade. They are making "Food" creations, not "CAKE"

I absolutely agree. As difficult as is would be for me to do, I think they take the easy way out by using rice krispy treats and modeling chocolate. We have seen some of these people sculpt amazing things out of cake, so we know it is possible. That is what really impresses me the most.

I watch a lot of the "Cake" shows and find many of the things they do so incredible. The thing that irks me though is that they claim that these are cakes when in reality they are not cake at all but Rice Krispie Treats. That being the case, Rice Krispie Treats are so pliable that a person could take them and mold them into almost anything, cover them with Fondant and paint and viola, what people think is an amazing creation. In fact when you look at it in this sense it really isn't so amazing.
