Bobby Cannavale has police procedural in the blood. The star of 'Third Watch' (and a regular guest star on the various 'Law & Orders' and 'Cold Case') has joined the cast of CBS' new cop drama 'Blue Bloods,' according to TVGuide.com.

The series revolves around a multigenerational clan of New York cops, and stars Tom Selleck as the patriarch and chief of police; his two sons (Donnie Wahlberg and Will Estes) are also in the NYPD, while his daughter, Erin (Bridget Moynahan), a single mother, is an Assistant District Attorney.

Cannavale will play Charles Rosselini, Reagan's boss and an ex-cop himself.

The actor won an Emmy for his recurring role as Will's boyfriend on 'Will & Grace,' and has starred in such feature films as 'The Station Agent,' 'Snakes on a Plane' and the current release 'The Other Guys.'

Cannavale's character will first appear in the Oct. 15 episode. 'Blue Bloods' premieres Friday, Sept. 24 at 10PM.

I like it. Sellek was good, reminds me of how he played "Ike". But,it could have been in any big Northern city(Boston,Chicago,Newark) from what we saw of a city life.
