Bobby Cannavale Joins CBS' 'Blue Bloods'

Bobby Cannavale has police procedural in the blood. The star of 'Third Watch' (and a regular guest star on the various 'Law & Orders' and 'Cold Case') has joined the cast of CBS' new cop drama 'Blue Bloods,' according to TVGuide.com.The series revolves around a multigenerational clan of New York cops, and stars Tom Selleck as the patriarch and chief of police; his two sons (Donnie Wahlberg and Will Estes) are also in the NYPD, while his daughter, Erin (Bridget Moynahan), a single mother, is an Assistant District Attorney.
Cannavale will play Charles Rosselini, Reagan's boss and an ex-cop himself.
The actor won an Emmy for his recurring role as Will's boyfriend on 'Will & Grace,' and has starred in such feature films as 'The Station Agent,' 'Snakes on a Plane' and the current release 'The Other Guys.'
Cannavale's character will first appear in the Oct. 15 episode. 'Blue Bloods' premieres Friday, Sept. 24 at 10PM.
