It's a good week for fans of 'Bones' who are itching for details about the upcoming season. First, they had a chance to peruse a new promotional trailer focusing on the show's romantic relationships. Now there's information on an upcoming guest spot by actor and comedian David Alan Grier.TV Guide reports Grier will appear on 'Bones' as Professor Bunsen Jude the Science Dude -- a children's television host modeled after real-life Bill Nye the Science Guy. Professor Jude will volunteer to help solve a murder case with the "squinterns" -- the squint assistants -- after Dr. Brennan declines an invite to appear on his show because she doesn't deem him a real scientist. In turn, Brennan will appear on his show -- if he's able to solve the week's mystery.
Known for his role on the FOX sketch comedy 'In Living Color' in the early '90s, Grier has been a mainstay on television for the past 20 years with appearances on 'Martin,' 'The X-Files,' 'Boston Public,' 'Life With Bonnie' and 'My Wife and Kids.' He last starred on Comedy Central's faux-news program 'Chocolate News' in 2008, and competed during the eighth season of 'Dancing With the Stars.'
'Bones' launches its sixth season at 8PM on Sept. 23. Grier's episode will air in mid October.
