'Warehouse 13' - 'For the Team' Recap

warehouse 13 for the team(S02E07) This week on 'Warehouse 13,' Myka teamed up with a brand new partner to crack a case involving combustible college wrestlers. No, I'm not talking about Claudia; I'm talking about H.G. Wells!

What? H.G. Wells? The season's big bad? The scary de-bronzed femme fatale? She's a kick-ass, grappling hook gun-firing good guy now? How'd that happen?

If you ask Wells, she's always been one of the good guys. And she's ready to prove herself to Myka and the rest of the team and reenlist as a Warehouse agent. But can she be trusted? That's the big question, isn't it?

I loved the big twist in this episode. Turning a major baddie into a tweener is a tricky thing to do. Sometimes a show gets it right and it's the best thing ever (Hello, Spike from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'), but it just feels silly and false when it's done poorly (I'm looking at you, 'Heroes'). But I'm loving the dynamic between Wells and Myka, and Jaime Murray is so awesome that she makes you really wanna root for her.

I'm a fan of the show's cuddly family vibe, so I guess I'd rather see Wells join the family as the edgy black sheep than try to destroy it. And at least grappling with the Wells situation gives Myka something a little more interesting to do this season.

While the girls were kicking ass out in the field, Pete was grounded after last week's wackiness and forced to entertain himself by reading the funny pages and goofing around with Timothy Leary's glasses (So Artie is the walrus?). Eddie McClintock toned it down a bit this week, but he was still pretty damn hilarious.

Artie, clearly suffering from playing the role of lonely Warehouse dude, went to extremes to get his crush, the Warehouse doc ('Bionic Woman' Lindsay Wagner), to pay him a house call. Wagner was likable enough in the role. She and Artie had enough chemistry to warrant a subtle romantic subplot for the ep. Here's hoping the good doctor will help Artie lighten up a little.

And Pete tried to get a little closer to his fledgling lady friend, the smokin' Dr. Hernandez (Paula Garcés). So Pete's kind of a dork with women, huh? It seems to work for him. In the end, Hernandez decided to go out with him after spurning his advances earlier, but not before mentioning her crazy ex whom she moved across the country to get away from. I'm counting the days until he shows up to cause trouble for Pete.

Pete's break from fieldwork gave him a chance to bond with Artie, and it also gave Claudia a chance to tag along with Myka on a case.

Seeing Claudia get away from the computer screen and actually interact with other humans is always fun. Hopefully we'll get to see her acting as an Apprentice Agent again now that she seems to be coming out of her shell and weighing her options by applying to college.

I always thought there was potential for some good stuff to come out of Claudia and Myka's relationship. Claudia bonded with goofy Pete without a problem, but she and Myka always seemed like polar opposites. The scene on the bench was great with Myka playing the big sister role and inspiring Clauds to trust herself and take her first baby steps toward becoming a grown up.

So, the artifact plot was kind of like a bee buzzing in the background. It was there, it was a thing, but this episode was really about the characters nudging their relationships with each other a little further along.

I'm looking forward to seeing what'll happen with Wells. I don't trust her. I think she's playing an angle, but I want the show to prove me wrong about her true motives. I was screaming "Don't take that thing into the Warehouse!" when Myka boxed up her grappling gun. Hasn't she ever heard of a Trojan horse? Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe.

No doubt, great episode. I haven't got a clue as to whether she will end up as part of the team or executing some nefarious plan to destroy the Warehouse.

LOVED this episode. I really liked that they switched up the teams. I was wondering...did anyone notice that when the warehouse doc's communicator went off, it was the Bionic sound (d-n-n-n-n-n-n). Absolutely loved that connection.
