Casting Roundup: Stephen Collins Tackles Gay Role, Anna Gunn Heads to 'Lie to Me' and More

Stephen CollinsWhat would Rev. Camden think? Stephen Collins of '7th Heaven' fame will guest star on 'Brothers & Sisters' as a gay pal of Saul.

According to TV Guide, Collins will play Charlie, a man who helps Saul deal with his HIV status.

"I don't want this to be like a TV Movie of the Week," 'Brothers & Sisters' showrunner David Marshall Grant told TV Guide. "Even though he didn't know his diagnosis until recently, I have a feeling Saul has been dealing with this for years. He hasn't been frequenting gay bars."

Collins will only stick around for one episode, but he could pop up again. He stars on 'Brothers & Sisters' producer Greg Berlanti's new series 'No Ordinary Family.'

In other TV news ...

• 'Breaking Bad' star Anna Gunn will appear on Fox's 'Lie to Me.' Gunn will play an ambitious internal affairs detective who tries to bring down Detective Wallowski. Look for Gunn to make her appearance in late November. [Ausiello Files]

• Sherri Shepherd will replace Carnie Wilson as the host of GSN's 'The Newlywed Game.' The game show will relocate production to New York to accommodate 'The View' co-host's schedule. [Yahoo!]

• Ryan Devlin is set to return to 'Grey's Anatomy.' Devlin will appear in two sweeps in October and November as the husband to Mandy Moore's character. Devlin and Moore first guest-starred in the season finale shooting episode. [Ausiello Files]

And if you don't want the muslims to build their mosque near 9/11 don't go to their stores, use their business, or buy in their outdoor stands. They will get the hint, and tell them why.

Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

How come every time a straight man plays a gay man on TV he's branded for life as gay. No one seems to complain when a gay actor plays a straight one. Can we please get passed this already? It's the 21st century.

I hope some of these readers realize that Stephen Collins is a straight man playing a gay one on the show. He has been happily married for 25 years to an actress Faye Grant. He can do just about any acting job quite well.
