Glenn Beck Blasts Manifest Destiny as 'Really, Really Evil' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Aug 19th 2010 12:25PM
Because he is from Washington state, and generally a big fan of the whole American greatness thing, you'd think Glenn Beck would be all about Manifest Destiny.

But no. On Wednesday's 'The Glenn Beck Program' (weekdays, 5PM ET on Fox News) Beck blasted Manifest Destiny, the 19th century theory that encouraged our still forming nation to expand out to the Pacific.

After declaring Manifest Destiny "really, really evil," Beck delivered a little sermon:

"Manifest Destiny is a perversion of Divine Providence. When a man tries to live in accordance with nature's god and nature's law and works for the betterment of man, God helps. However, when man seeks power and riches by using nature's god or nature's laws in conjunctions with others seeking the same -- power and riches -- God withdraws and evil masquerades as good."

Wednesday's show was the first of Beck's three-part series on race in America, "The good, the bad and the ugly." So tune in Thursday and Friday if you want to get more provocative contrarianism, Beck-style.
