'Sons of Anarchy' Creator and Actor Publicly Feud ... or Not

Any good biker gang worth its salt has its fair share of in-gang feuding. The 'Sons of Anarchy' are no different.

The FX biker drama's two top dogs, showrunner Kurt Sutter and star Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jax, are having a bit of a public rumble that could be nothing more than a little creative tension rising to the surface. Or maybe there's something more underlying it.

Hunnam initially voiced displeasure with Sutter's tendency to be less than forthcoming about plot lines in an interview in the Chicago Tribune.

"Keeping actors in the dark is not always the right move, because without knowing the direction that something's going, one can make slight mistakes,'' the British-born Hunnam said. "There has to be a big, psychological leap to get to where you're being taken.''

Sutter retorted on Twitter, which was picked up by Movieline, by explaining he doesn't always give his cast a heads up about story details, but he does share major plot lines.

"i regret some of my cast feel that the writers are conspiring to 'keep actors in the dark.' that's not the case. we are doing the best we can,'' Sutter tweeted. "i love my cast and try to challenge their talent with quality writing and deep, 3-dimensional stories. that effort requires focus and time. perhaps if they were doing a network procedural they'd have a showrunner who could tell them everything and assuage their apprehension. i'm not that guy. SOA is not that show.''

Later, the two made their peace -- or is that a truce in gang talk? -- and Sutter blamed it on the press.

"All good in the mc hood. Of course no one will pick up the tweets that suggest the media whored a story for more blog hits,'' Sutter said.

Sutter and his SOA cast have a history of being ornery in public, although not with each other. Members of the cast,
including Ron Perlman, responded with an expletive earlier this month to the news that the show had been snubbed by the Emmys.

Season 3 debuts Sept. 7 at 10PM.
