'Jersey Shore' Star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Could Make $5 Million This Year
Is this a sign of the Apocalypse? Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino of MTV's 'Jersey Shore' is making loads more money than other TV stars such as Anna Paquin, Edie Falco and Matthew Morrison. After a successful raise negotiation and several product endorsement deals, Sorrentino could rake in $5 million this year alone.According to the Hollywood Reporter, that's $4.1 million more than Paquin, $2.9 million more than Falco and $4.46 million more than Morrison.
So how did the 29-year-old do it? Well, through shrewd business negotiation, it seems.
"We are really excited about all the opportunities coming Mike's way," Mike Petolino of Gotham Entertainment, the reality star's manager, told The Hollywood Reporter. "He has been able to secure many endorsement deals, business opportunities and additional television offers based on the success of the show. Our goal has always been to try to build a brand if the situation presented itself."
Sorrentino makes close to $60,000 per episode after bonuses based on ratings. He'll get a cut from all the official 'Jersey Shore' merchandise, including Halloween costumes based on his muscles and his co-star Snooki's famous hair poof. Sorrentino is also set to bring in close to $1 million from appearance fees alone.
Beyond being paid to show off his abs, the reality star has a variety of other deals in place. He'll write 'Here's the Situation,' an autobiography that reportedly got him a six-figure advance, and has endorsement deals with a new line of vodka, a song on iTunes, a "GTL" mobile application, a workout video, chewable supplements at GNC, deals with Vitamin Water and Reebok and a clothing line in the works with Dilligaf.
As if all that wasn't enough, he's also reportedly fielding offers from studios to pop up in some films. It's quite clear that America has a big Situation on its hands.
