'So You Think You Can Dance Canada': From 22 to 20

All right, dear readers.
I'm going to jump into this results show exactly the way CTV threw us into it: Very, very rapidly.
First off, what was with that intro performance? Maybe it was foreshadowing the "hard-to-understand" results of tonight's show. I'm not sure. All I know is that right off the bat, I'm annoyed.
Hani is dancing for a show spot, yet Charlene and Jeff get to stay. Uh... OK. And the tango couple (Amanda and Denys), they're moving on to the Top 20 too. Sigh.
Edgar and Bree are on the outs (I thought they did great last night). But I agree with making Julia and Jesse dance again. (See last night's post here.)
And then we're off to watch the bottom boys and girls "perform for their lives" in individual, timed performances.
We start with Hani; in my books he did great. Then came Edgar (same "meh" moves). Jesse followed with a mediocre performance. At this point, I'm convinced these guys dance better in couples than as individuals.
As for the girls, Bree did a great contemporary routine, while Julia did a jive/swing dance thingie; both had some smooth moves. Then we're reminded of Shelaina and her accident. Why has no one told us more about her injury? And isn't it pre-determined she's not returning to the show?
A brief commercial break later and my heart is broken: Hani's going home. I still can't rationalize why; last night he stole the show and he trumped every other dude on stage. I beg of you Canada, don't let mediocre dancing in the male squad make a comeback.
As for the girls, injured Shelaina is going home, which makes sense. Sill, I wonder, what happened to her!? I want to know... really, really badly. Tell me her story CTV, please (a quick glance at an X-ray is not good enough)!
So now we're down to Canada's official Top 20. Catch the next dance performances on Monday, Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. on CTV.
Random thoughts:
-- Leah, you are not going to go watch Hani's first non-'SYTYCDC' show. Please don't say that you will. We know otherwise.
-- Was there any point in making the ladies dance for their spots tonight when it was clear Shelaina was going home? Probably not. The stress on the dancers was unfair and cruel.
