Matt Groening Mocks the Fox Network on 'Futurama' (VIDEO)

Matt Groening Mocks the Fox Network on 'Futurama'The creator of 'The Simpsons' guest-starred on the new 'Futurama' (Thu., 10PM ET on Comedy Central). Matt Groening is the artist who came up with the Simpson family. He also happens to have created a little series called, um ... 'Futurama.' Matt has had some bumpy times with the Fox Network -- and tonight, he mocked and satirized his employers.

During the episode, the 'Futurama' cast appears at "Comic-Con 3010." Groening is also in attendance, to premiere a new show called "Futurella." But before the opening credits can even finish, Matt's show is instantly canceled by 20th Century Fox. "Wow," Groening says. "Fox has really streamlined the process."
All of this is a jokey reference to the fact that Groening continually fought with the network over 'Futurama.' He once said that Fox executives were "out of their minds," and called most other Fox shows "lousy."

Groening has also stated in the past that Fox executives are "bullies" and "babies." So it's clear that he's not a huge fan of the corporation.

'Futurama' appeared on Fox from 1999 to 2003, but was repeatedly moved to different timeslots and generally never received much support. The show was revived this year, and now airs on Comedy Central. But even though it's been seven years since the series was originally canceled by Fox, it seems like Groening still hold a grudge about the whole thing.
