Facing Hypothermia While Crossing a Freezing River on 'Man, Woman, Wild' (VIDEO)

On the latest 'Man, Woman, Wild' (Fri., 9PM ET on Discovery), survival expert Mykel Hawke and his journalist wife Ruth take a leisurely rafting trip in Utah. They're traveling down the Colorado River, which apparently flows through a lot more states than Colorado. (Utah being one of these states, obviously.) Everything is going fine. Or rather, everything is sort of going fine -- right up until the moment that their raft overturns.After the raft flips over, Mykel and Ruth make it to shore. Now, they're stranded in a barren canyon -- and the only available sources of food are on the other side of the river. They're going to have to cross the Colorado, one way or another. And of course, their raft is long gone. So they'll have to do it in life vests -- and the water temperature is about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is easily cold enough to cause hypothermia. Will the pair make it across?
Not only is the river cold, but the current can run as fast as 30 miles an hour ... and the water is 90 feet deep in parts. Still, the river crossing seems to be working out. But then, the husband and wife team get caught in an eddy, and are carried helplessly downstream. Then, Ruth starts to freeze.
