Kate Gosselin Emmys Update: Now She Wants to Act?!
Kate Gosselin wants to try her hand at acting, and it's all Jimmy Fallon's fault. When the Emmys host asked Gosselin to participate in last night's 'Glee'-themed opening skit, he inadvertently planted an idea in the reality star's head that could scar movie-going and TV-viewing audiences for generations to come. "Doing that little part in the skit was so amazing for me, being around so many wonderful actors," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I so want to give it a try! I think it is so fun to be somebody else, to get out of me and be somebody else."
It's unclear whether Gosselin's appearance in the Emmys number was a result of a previously unseen sense of humor or just because she is physically unable to resist appearing in front of any type of camera. Either way, it was a cute wink to her wooden but inexplicably lengthy 'Dancing With the Stars' stint, one of the year's most memorable TV trainwreck moments. But that doesn't mean we want to see any more of her.
Shame on you, Jimmy, for fanning the flame of Gosselin's burning desire to be on television. After all, it was his idea to book Kate for the skit. "It was Jimmy Fallon's personal invitation to have me in it," she said. "I love him. I so love him. It was a lot of fun, the most fun thing I have done in so long."
'Jon & Kate Plus 8' started out as a charming show about a supersized family and their exploits, but over the years, it devolved into the TV equivalent of sitting between two sides of a couple as they air their domestic dirty laundry. Watching a naggy TV wife berating her useless, lazy husband as their marriage disintegrates is probably even more uncomfortable than when it happens to you personally.
As a result, seeing Kate Gosselin grace my TV screen makes me want to pick up the nearest heavy object and hurl it in her direction. The woman and her family have already cornered the tabloid , reality TV and parenting author markets -- all things I can easily avoid if I really want to. But scripted TV? Steer clear, lady. There's got to be some sacred Gosselin-free safe zone.
Let's not encourage this behavior any more than we already have or we're in for more Bristol Palin-like levels of bad acting here, people. So, Hollywood, I beg of you: For the love of humanity, keep Kate Gosselin away from acting.
Would you watch Kate Gosselin try her hand at acting? Or would you prefer to steer clear of all things Gosselin?
