Mika Brzezinski Alleges Paris Hilton Cocaine Arrest Was Publicity Stunt (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Aug 30th 2010 5:25PM
A few years ago 'Morning Joe' (weekday, 6 AM ET on MSNBC) co-host Mika Brzezinski gained notoriety and sympathy for refusing to discuss a news item involving Paris Hilton.

On Mondays' show, Mika again tried to dismiss a story involving the celebutante. But when it became clear the panel was going to discuss Paris's weekend cocaine arrest, Mika gave in and advanced her theory on what actually happened:

"Why don't they tell the whole story?" Brzezinski wondered. "Paris Hilton's advisers told her to get arrested so she could get back into the stupid news programs."

Joe Scarborough agreed with Mika's assessment, and then New York Magazine political reporter John Heilemann -- a journalist who seemed perfectly happy discussing Hilton -- cracked a joke about Hilton's well known use of Twitter.

"She tweeted beforehand, put coke in bag, get arrested," Heilemann explained.

In all the ecstasy of astounding glee with which the media has attacked a coke-addled Paris Hilton along with so many stars from the Jersey Shore recently - all whom are now charged in an assault case (not to mention alleged sex-offender Remy Gonzalez) - one could well say the 'spectre' currently haunting the American media culture is celebrity profiling.

By that I mean was Paris celebrity-profiled because of her bad dye-job blondness and mega-chic cokehead media-whore status? And, furthermore, was the entire cast from Jersey Shore specifically targeted for the same kind of drunk-ass Saturday night violence that every guido and guidette obsessively posts Facebook pictures of each Sunday, then brags about on Monday...
