Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth: 'Castle'

Spoilers AnonymousThis is Spoilers Anonymous In-Depth, a weekly column here at TV Squad where we discuss and give our two cents about recently released spoilers and how they may affect the storylines, shows and fans.

This in-depth version of the column goes hand in hand with our weekly spoilers column in which we supply you with the dirt on some of the more popular shows on the air.

This week, we discuss spoilers recently released for the upcoming season of 'Castle.'

These include new romances, a death, and a real name!

- Love is in the air!

Sadly, the air is still not romantically charged enough between Beckett and Castle for them to give a relationship with one another a try. I know, I feel your pain too. In the meantime, Beckett is getting a new love interest played by hottie Victor Webster and Castle will still be going strong with his ex. In other romance news, Alexis is getting her first serious boyfriend and we will discover that Lanie and Esposito have been an item!

It's not really surprising that the show's writers have decided not to have Castle and Beckett hook up this season. Based on what other TV series have done, I foresee Castle and Beckett going on their first real date at the end of season four or early in season five. So I'm fine with them seeing other people as I know we'll eventually get what we are demanding.

What's great about the character Victor Webster will play is that he won't be in the law enforcement business. Actually, his character, named Josh Davidson, will be a motorcycle guy. The upside to this will be that we'll see a new side of Beckett as she won't be able to talk shop 24/7 with Josh, meaning that we will learn more about what she likes, dislikes, her pastimes, etc. Another upside to this Beckett story line is that Castle too will be able to see a new side of the woman he wants to be with but can't yet. How will he react when Beckett drives off on a motorcycle with her new beau and can't hang out with Castle?

I didn't mention this in the paragraph above but Beckett and Lanie will start to hang out more after work. This friendship will, as Beckett's time with Josh will, allow us to learn new tidbits about her (and Lanie) and will more than likely make Castle jealous a bit as he doesn't have the same bond with Beckett. Awww....

Speaking of Lanie, she'll be hooking up with Esposito! I love it when the background characters get backstory and are brought front and center from time to time to complicate things and shape things differently. I wonder if they'll try to hide their relationship from the others as long as they can or if they'll be up front about it. Maybe they'll try to hide it but Castle will find out and work with them to keep things under wraps? What's your guess?

Poor Castle won't have it easy this fall as daughter Alexis will be getting a serious boyfriend. He's been a pretty cool father until now and has pretty much allowed Alexis to do whatever she wants. In return, Alexis has been sharing a lot about anything and everything with Castle.

It's easy to predict that things will change when she'll start to seriously date. She'll more than likely not want to share every single detail with her father anymore, especially about her love life. And he'll more than likely start to get a tad more possessive and act as a father would as his daughter is starting to doing more and more things on her own... and with a teenage boy!!! It will be interesting to see how this father/daughter dynamic evolves and how Martha will fit in the mix.

- A somewhat significant death will happen in the second episode. The death will either be Martha's never-seen boyfriend Chet, Castle's ex-wife and Alexis' mother Meredith, or Castle's second ex-wife Gina.

Another spoiler released in the past weeks confirms that Gina will appear in the fifth episode, so that rules her out. Considering that Alexis' life will already have been shaken up by a serious boyfriend, I'm not sure the writers want to throw another "event" at her by killing her mother. But the killing of Meredith could allow father and daughter to bond and could lead to Castle thinking some more about growing up with an absentee parent and have him revisit his father issues.

The death of Chet would be more plausible in my book as we have yet to hear about a storyline for Martha for the upcoming season and his death could lead to a storyline for her.

- Castle will get arrested for murder!

If you haven't done so yet, watch the preview video below! Juicy, no? The way Beckett and company react makes me think this will happen before Castle rejoins the team because they are rather distant and the word "scumbag" is even thrown around. After all, the team may feel betrayed by Castle as he left without giving them much closure and Nathan Fillion said in an recent interview that, over the summer, Castle did not call, text, or email them.

It looks like the dead person on the bed is a woman. Even if this arrest is set to happen in the first episode, could it be linked to the significant death that will happen in the second episode? Is it September 20th already? Because I can't wait to discover what Castle is doing in that room, whom the deceased is, and how he'll get out of this sticky situation and fix his now broken work relationship with the team.

- Castle will reveal his real name. Say, what?!?

What do you think of the upcoming romantic relationships? Which one are you more looking forward to? Who do you think will die in the second episode, Chet or Meredith? Is it linked to Castle's arrest? What do you think is Castle's real name?

'Castle' returns to ABC on September 20.

I really enjoy the show and the tension between Castle and Beckett. But, I don't know if it'll will keep me interested for a prolonged amount of time if the romance is delayed too long.
Maybe it's because I have the attention span of a gnat...but I'll lose interest if they don't give me a payoff.

Just saying....

I don't think I can wait until the end of season 4. Their chemistry is way too hot. I need to have at least a kiss by the end of this season and headed towards dating by season 4.

I can completely see Esposito, Ryan, and Lanie all being ticked that Castle blew them off all summer. Not only did he inadvertently break their friend's heart but they also felt like they were all friends. If Castle leaves because he can't have Beckett and then the rest of the crew never get so much as a hello, I can see how they feel as though they were used as fodder for his books and then he moved on and forgot about them. Of course he was probably just off licking his wounds.

Can't wait to see how they work it all out in season 3!

To me, it's obvious that Chet will be the one to go. The chemistry of having the whole family living together in Season 1 was fabulous, and having Martha move in with Chet was detrimental to the show. Therefore, the writers will kill off Chet as the easiest way to bring Martha back in to the apartment. They'll probably also make her a suspect, which should make for an interesting case for Rick, especially coming off his own mistaken suspect ep. I can understand why Kate would be upset that he remained out of contact, but I find it difficult to believe that Esposito and Ryan would be so quick to judge; it seemed that sometimes the three of them would be "the boys" against Beckett and he really seemed part of the team this past season.
