'Big Lake' - Parents Vs. Kids ... to the Death (VIDEO)

'Big Lake' - Parents Vs. Kids ... to the DeathHaving children is a blessing and a joy, of course. But having kids is also a reminder of the primal state of nature, where siring offspring is an inevitable sign that the decline and death of the adult is soon to come. ... Yeah. Whoa. Heavy stuff, right? Don't blame us. We didn't bring it up. Mrs. Franklin on 'Big Lake' brought it up.

On the latest episode (Tue., 10PM ET on Comedy Central), Linda Franklin (Deborah Rush) is talking to her husband Carl (played by James Rebhorn), in front of a living room full of children. She tells Carl that he should be proud of their brood of sons. But then, unfortunately, she keeps on talking ... and talking ... and talking. "[Look at] you, proud lion," Linda says to him, at least starting out on an upbeat note. "Staring out over your cubs, protective and majestic."

"Yeah; feels pretty good," Carl replies.

" ... They grow older," Linda continues, "and they play and they spar ... and then one day, as you age and weaken and they get stronger, one of them is going to attack; he's going to bite you at the base of your neck and separate your spine from your head -- and bring you the sweet relief of death."

"Good Lord, Linda," Carl says. " ... That is dark." Very true. That entire speech got really dark, pretty quickly.

At any rate, we're not exactly sure what Linda's moral is here. Don't have kids? Arm yourself with weapons against your kids? Run far, far away from your kids? But we're sure there's a moral in there somewhere.
