'Glee' Gets Into the 'Empire State of Mind' in the Show's First Season Two Promo

'Glee' season 2 sneak peekGood news, Gleeks! There are two juicy pieces of 'Glee' news today, and not a single one of them involves Ryan Murphy running his mouth about the new season. That's right -- we're talking real, hard news. Well, as hard as news can get when it's about a musical comedy television show.

First up: We finally have proof they were actually making a TV show between all that jibber-jabbering. Our friends at Vulture have the first on-air season 2 promo, and it's a doozy.

It's a little 'Mad Men'-ish, in that we don't actually find out any plot lines -- just select dialogue and images. We do, however, hear our first new track: a cover of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind." Which makes sense, because the gang's new goal is to make it to Nationals in New York City.

The best part of the promo, hands down, is seeing Kurt decked out in gold chains and sunglasses. The promo also does a great job of reminding us why, exactly, we like 'Glee' in the first place. We still like 'Glee,' right? It's just the constant stream of non-news that elicits an involuntary cringe at the sound of its name. This new promo has helped curb that response. Though I reserve the right to take back that statement if Artie doesn't do the Jay-Z rap. He has to do the Jay-Z rap.

'Glee' news item number two involves the 'Simpsons' appearance we heard about earlier this year. Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Amber Riley will all appear in animated form on the show's Sept. 26 premiere, and the first stills have been released. You can see them on Zap2It.

And a bonus 'Glee' item: that photo above is a still from the first episode. We can't wait!

Check out the promo below, then let us know what you think.
