Jackie Evancho Returns to Amaze the Judges on 'America's Got Talent' (VIDEO)
Having an element of suspense is an important part of any contest. Suspense heightens the tension for the contestants -- and it raises the stakes for the audience. But in the case of singer Jackie Evancho and the 'America's Got Talent' judges, things just haven't been very suspenseful. The judges clearly loved the 10-year-old opera singer from the first second that they saw her.
Tonight (Tue., 9PM ET on NBC) was no different. While there were some other impressive acts appearing on the show -- such as performance group Fighting Gravity, and vocalists Alice Tan Ridley and Nathan Kenyon -- all eyes were essentially on Ms. Evancho from the moment that she stepped out on stage.
Once again, Jackie stunned the judges and the crowd, performing a thrilling version of "Time to Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli. And as we pointed out before, there wasn't that much suspense about whether the judges would love the song. The only question was how much they would love the song.
The answer to that question was: quite a lot.
Sharon Osbourne said that Jackie was "blessed" and told her that she had been born "with an amazing gift." She promised Jackie that her life would be full of adventures, because her vocal talent was going to take her all over the world.
Meanwhile, Howie Mandel said this to Jackie: "You are like an angel from another planet. ... I've never witnessed something like this, and heard something like this. ... There aren't even words to describe [it], but I'm so happy I can be here, witness it, and hear it." Wow. High praise indeed.
Piers Morgan was more succinct and to the point with his praise. He simply called Jackie Evancho a "superstar."
It's hard to guarantee anything in life, and the voters of America still have to make their decision. But it seems pretty much guaranteed that Jackie will be moving along to the finals of 'America's Got Talent.' See? There's that lack of suspense again.
