Celebrities Deny 'Dancing With the Stars' Snubs

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 2nd 2010 11:40AM
Joel McHaleBummed that Joel McHale passed on the chance to join the cast of 'Dancing With the Stars' season 11? Well, don't be -- because he didn't.

The 'Community' actor's representative told E! Online that he was never asked. "...It is 100 percent false that he was offered a spot on this year's show."

The Hollywood Reporter story also named Tim Allen, Kirstie Alley, Suzanne Somers and a gaggle of other celebrities who reportedly shot down the offers to go after the mirrorball trophy. Now, some celebrities like McHale are shooting back, saying they were never offered a spot.

'Home Improvement' star Allen said he was never offered. The manager of 'Three's Company' star Somers said the actress "did turn it down, but only because she is too busy."

Other celebrities approached include Jamie Lee Curtis and Ryan O'Neal. 'Dynasty' star Joan Collins reportedly approached the producers.

In that same Hollywood Reporter story, sources alleged Bristol Palin was behaving like a diva. Sarah Palin is not pleased. She took to Twitter in her daughter's defense: "Wow,media goofballs rearing heads this wk,big time!Wonder what's up?Taking the cake:ink re:Bristol=a diva? Silly;obviously have nvr met her."

So it sounds like another lame season of DANCING WITH THE MEDIA WHORES.....
You can continue to bitch and moan and then watch it anyway or you can choose to take a stand.
How many people are willing to NOT WATCH IT and let the ratings drop?
Alas, I don't think too many will join me in this endeavor.
(I skipped last season and ended up with several hours of free time on my hands.)

Get off of Bristol Palin's case! She is just a kid. She is only 19. Why on earth would someone write that she is acting like a DIVA? That is just ignorant. I liked this show when it first came on. Now, I can stand it, sometimes...

Who is Joel McHale? Why would we be upset that he isn't on DWTS?

Reminds me of the time I had asked a girl at the bar to dance. We were in a local dive after having frequented several others that evening and she seemed georgeous at the time. "Send In The Clowns" by Judy Collins was playing and, as I pulled her close I began to laugh! When she asked why, I queried if she had seen the other couple on the floor! "My God are they ugly" I replied. She immediatly pushed away and fled the bar. It was then that I realized that we were dancing in front of a mirrored wall and were the only couple on the floor!

DWTS has nothing to do with "stars." The producers sign up contestants who will pull in viewers.

The BEST contestants are those who we "Love To Hate." Those personalities are GOLDEN to ABC.

Do you really think Kate Gosselin was on the show because of her star status or talent??? Most people tuned in because they wanted to see a train wreck.

In my opinion,it's nothing more than a carnival side show ... and the sideshow "freaks" are laughing all the way to the bank.

Perfect example: That creepy guy ( "The Situation" ) from "Jersey Shore." I wonder which lucky dance pro will get HIM as a partner? If it were me, I'd want HAZMAT to hose me down after dancing with him. Yuck.

If you really want to make a statement about the people DWTS puts on the show, simply don't watch. Don't discuss it. Don't buy the stuff the show's sponsors sell.

But that will never happen. People will tune in if for no other reason than to watch the contestants make arses of themselves ( and this is the intent, anyway. )

This show is just about T & A-the more T and the more A, the happier the goons are who watch it waiting for a strap to break so more T's will show. It is pathetic. And Bristol Palin a celebrity or a star? C'mon she is getting more and more like her lame brained mother every day. Snotty and snooty. What a pair. I too watched this show the first season when it meant something-now it is just a haven for hasbeens or wannabes plus more T & A.

Who really cares who was asked and who wasn't ? To me this show is a just a waste of time and is stupid. Come on now really ... do people even care if some celeb or a celeb wanna be can or can not dance ? I would rather watch ice melt or count strands of grass in the back yard than watch this crap.

If that is what you think, why don't we make a reality show about you in your yard watching ice melt. Then after the ice melts, you can count the blades of grass? Can't be worse that Kate.

Hey Joanne Line ..... here's a new show just for you. Bitter Housewife with no life and does what other people tell her.

WHY in the world are there so many negative comments? Most are coming from people who say they've never watched it, so how would they know it's crap? Sure, the selection of "stars" (they are more accurately "celebrities") is questionable, but it you don't even watch, don't make rude and inappropriate comments. As for these people being "talentless", if you were to watch the show you'd see how much work really goes into being a contestant. These people are mostly new to dancing and they really work hard and put on a good show. I will be the first one to say I can't stand Kate Gosselin and her dancing was horrendous...but I give her credit for going out there and doing it. She was nervous and new to it (and it showed), but gave it a try. The people who get to the finals and who ultimately win show amazing talent and deserve to be commended for their achievement, not called names.
