'Stan Lee's Superhumans:' Acrobat Has No Fear of Losing Balance at Extreme Heights (VIDEO)

One of humankind's most innate fears is the fear of heights. But it's a phobia that Eskil Ronningsbakken doesn't seem to possess.

On 'Stan Lee's Superhumans' (Thu., 10PM ET on HIST), he shows the ability to suppress the body's instinctual fight-or-flight response, instead always keeping a cool head while balancing precariously at extreme heights.

With no safety harness or net, Ronningsbakken balances (in a handstand pose) on a tower of chairs stacked inches from a 1,000-ft. drop. "The reason why I chose this location is because I'm actually beyond the mountain, so there is a free-fall when you fall. It's not like a peak, when you just fall a few meters," he explains. "The feeling of flying is very important in the challenge itself."
