'Big Brother 12' Season 12, Episode 25 Recap

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Sep 3rd 2010 2:15AM
Lane's reign ends on 'Big Brother 12'[Big Brother 12 - 'Live Eviction #9, HoH #10] Another summer of 'Big Brother' is wrapping up as tonight's show gets us down to the final four hamsters. Who would have thought that the final five would be the Brigade minus one, Britney and Ragan?

It's time for all those remaining in the house to step up their game. In the Brigade, the guys have basically jumped in to win -- once they were up against the ropes. Well, now they're all up against the ropes and each one should be thinking of their own end game, not their friendships. That is, if they want to win the half-million.

Once the inevitable recap ended, Ragan showed some moxie trying to wriggle his way into the final four against all odds. It took him a while, but he finally decided that the "boys" were indeed in an alliance. Since he and Britney are peripherals not in the alliance, it does make sense that they could team up. Only Britney and Enzo voted this week, with Lane standing by to decide a tie if it happened. If only Ragan could sway Britney to his side and Lane went along, all would be hunky-dory ... for his own game, as well as theirs.

He tried. He really did. He made some great points with Britney -- she wouldn't be able to beat the boys in the jury vote as they all played better social games and had fewer enemies; Lane would lose to either Hayden or Enzo in the final two as they schmoozed better than he did and this would be the opportunity to pull a power play, removing the big threat of Hayden. Of course, Ragan had no idea that Lane wanted to go into the final two with Britney rather than either of his Brigade boys. Naturally, she didn't tell him.

The showing of the jury house was definitely the most interesting part of the episode. Sure, Rachel welcomed Kathy. Then came Matt and all were hugging like they never hated each other in the first place. Then came Brendon. Did you catch Rachel's reaction? With all of her talk, including twice saying "don't get between me and my man" within a couple of minutes, she didn't run and hug him. Could the magic be gone along with the lost half-million?

But the best part of the jury house segment was when Matt admitted his lie about his wife's illness. Now, I personally think it's reprehensible, but others have made similar lies before (Dr. Will, Jonny Fairplay on 'Survivor'). Perhaps Kathy had a right to be very upset as someone who trusted him and a cancer survivor. But what was with Rachel being all dramatic about it? Or Brendon? "You'll burn in hell!" Oh my. Now they all hate him again. The world is as it should be.

Back at the house, they did a cute bit showing the hamsters how they looked in the dancing punishment. Again, kudos go out to the person who came up with that idea for the show! It's a marked improvement in the brevity factor. Those kudos are rescinded if the same person thought of wearing out the welcome of the Pandora's Box this season.

The last few weeks of the show could have been truly great had Ragan's case to Lane and Britney not been clouded by the good ol' boys network. Lane is going to get to the point where he's going to have to publicly decide Britney and cast the guys aside or be cast aside himself. It didn't happen this week. You can't really blame Britney. Her final two possibilities with Lane are much stronger than she might have with Ragan. Enzo wouldn't vote out his boy. So, once again, we're talking a unanimous vote to evict ... Ragan.

The final four are three Brigade Boys and a Blonde, an unlikely quartet. Lane and Enzo's performance on competitions has been dismal until very recently. Hayden isn't all that much better. Britney is definitely overpowered on a physical level by the guys. This might not be too pretty.

The show ended with the Head of Household partially in progress. The three competing had to work Christmas ornaments up on one side of a chain link or widely-spaced chicken wire fence and place them on a tree. Each had their own tree and were looking to get 18 ornaments, plus the top star, placed. When the show cut away, Britney seemed to be doing the worst as she broke almost every ornament she touched. The action went on to the live feeds after the episode ended. The new Head of Household will be announced on Sunday's show. Please don't post spoilers in the comments here.

'Big Brother 12' airs on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ET on CBS.

Now that we're down to the final four, who do you want for the win?
Britney381 (41.1%)
Enzo146 (15.7%)
Hayden198 (21.4%)
Lane202 (21.8%)

Lane's move makes sense to me. To go to the finals he has to either (1) win the POV or (2) not get evicted by the person who wins the POV. Had Hayden been evicted he would have had to trust Ragan. If Ragan had stayed and won the POV, Lane could have been evicted. That was a distinct possibility that he decided to forego. He figures he has a better chance trusting his bros.

Ragan waited too long to make a move. Julie pointed this out and Ragan's explanation was wanting. His judgment of human beings is also wanting given that he considers Britney and Matt to be of upstanding moral character. His defense of Matt is especially misplaced. I can't wait to see his reaction when he learns the truth about Matt.

Matt's decision to disclose his lie was bizarre. From what I remember, only Andrew knew the truth. Thus, Matt didn't need to say anything. I find it implausible that Matt's conscience got the better of him. He seems to lack any moral compass whatsoever. He is an expert liar and manipulator. That comes from practice. I conclude he confessed to shock everybody. In the context of the game, his lie was useful and strategic. That's not to say it is morally acceptable. Matt's behavior is unrepentantly morally reprehensible. But BB is premised on unethical, immoral behavior. It's based on greed, lying, and manipulation. It's basically a game of politics and politicians are unconscionable liars. Brenchal's reaction was conciliatory towards Kathy and Kathy may have been a little too severe in her reaction. I'm not sure of the sequence of events, but if Matt lied to her before he knew of her personal travails, then he wasn't as insensitive as Kathy insinuated.

Brenchal was a joke from the git-go. Brendon's claim of love was irrational given the bimbo he was infatuated with. She was only in it for the money. He has no chance of convincing her to leave Las Vegas now and he's better off for it. Seriously, there is no way this guy's a brainiac. He is way too stupid.

The Brogade on the other hand know how to play the game. They got rid of Matt when they had to and Lane's been playing Enzo and Hayden against Britney. But Enzo and Hayden are wise to his chicanery. They have to know he was protecting her for the finals.

Britney vs. Brigade is a very interesting final 4. I can definitely see Enzo bouncing Lane if he wins the POV. Loyalty is the cornerstone of the mafioso mentality and I think Enzo harbors resentment at Lane for keeping Britney off the block. If she would have won the POV, she could have saved Ragan and then evicted him or Hayden. I know Enzo was aware of this eventuality. Will he extract his revenge?

Of the final 4, Britney has played the best game so far. She has won the most comps and her decisions have been designed to improve her position. Unfortunately, the ultimate HOH gets to decide who is evicted and who competes for the big money. I don't see Enzo or Hayden betraying each other if either wins the final HOH. I can also see them evicting Lane and taking their chances against Britney. They won't need Lane if either wins POV. It becomes a question of who they think they can defeat for the final HOH.

Rachel wasn't jumping for joy when Brendon walked in the door because he no longer had a shot at the big payoff. She'd been voted out and clutching Brendon for a while longer was her last hope for a shot at the big bucks. Without the 500 thou, Rachel no longer has to pretend to care for him.

I'm really bummed that Lane didn't make this season interesting by going for Ragan's plan... First, I think it would have been the best move for Lane, since I don't think he'll win over his "Bro-gade" members. He's banking on bringing Britney with him to the finals, but the cards are stack against him by keeping Hayden and Enzo who both want her out. I would have respected his game play a lot more if he made the big power move.
As far as Matt coming out about his lie, the only reaction I agree with was Kathy's. Do I think he's going to hell or is the worst person on the planet, like drama-queen Rachel told him?! NO, but I hope, for his wife's safe, that Karma doesn't bite him for it...

None of this group should win, but if I have to choose, I would choose Enzo...just for the absurdity
of the "final 4". You always keep an enemy in the final four to let them do the dirty work. Then make your BIG GAME CHANGING MOVE to win. Only chance of a
"game-changing move" last night was to follow what Ragan said to do. Has anyone noticed that Britney never wore a bikini until all the other females were out? Having not watched the live feeds with this boring cast, I am not sure that is true, but on the live shows, it was. Hayden, please get a haircut and learn to keep your mouth closed! Anyone notice that when Hayden had his hair swept back in the hot tub, how much better he looked?! And Lane, please remember you are wearing a michrophone and it picks-up every sound coming from your mouth and nose...even your nose-picking and apple biting. Jesus! And they can't wait to see all their fans!! How delousinal (sp?) this cast is!! May this season be a lesson in casting, games and what not to dos!!!

I hate when they don't finish the HOH on the Thursday show... it just screws with everything. It insures us about 20 minutes of recap on Sunday. We'll recap everything leading right up to the eviction, the eviction, and then the HOH. Bah!

From this group I was rooting for Lane until last night. At some point, you either have to own up to your strategy, or actually enact it. He wants to do neither and let everyone else get their hands dirty. He wants Enzo and Hayden gone, knew Ragan was right and was the better choice, but didn't want to possible anger his Brigade bros by getting rid of them sooner rather than later. But where's that leave him? Just like he was counting on Enzo last week to win HOH, now he's counting on Britney to win HOH this week. He threw away control for no reason. What are the chances that Britney will win this week and next week and be the one to get rid of Enzo and Hayden? Slim to none. Which means at some point he'll have to turn on his boys... so, why didn't he do it when it actually made some strategic sense? Good question. Britney for the win.

I believe the reason Rachel didnt run to hug Brendon right away is b/c she was shocked he was there..since it was a double eviction. I just took it that she was disappointed that he still wasnt in the BB house. The Matt confession was great. Im sorry to see Ragan gone. Im actually shocked that Enzo is still in the house..I guess my heart is routing for him since Im a Jersey girl. If he doesnt get, I like Lane. Britney breaking the Xmas balls was great! I hope she doesnt get HOH!

I think Rachael and Brendon's reaction to Matt's lie was ridiculous. I feel for Kathy and her situation, but the rest of em, come on. This is a game based on lies and manipulation. What did they think the rules of engagement were for Big Brother? I've seen worse.
