Labor Day TV Marathons to Watch

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 3rd 2010 11:35AM
FX shows a 'Two and A Half Men' Labor Day marathon Ah, Labor Day weekend. A time when most will celebrate the last days of summer by going outside and enjoying the fresh air. Some of us, most probably many reading this right now, will celebrate a long weekend and the opportunity to work on our TV tan.

There are marathons to suit just about everybody, whether you love Charlie Sheen, smart new dramas, evil-looking fish, or just want to kill your husband. Plenty of shows will frequent network schedules, like 'Law & Order' and 'SpongeBob SquarePants,' but here are some multi-hour blocks for which to plan.

(All times noted are Eastern Time.)

'White Collar'
USA
Monday 6AM to Saturday 4AM
The marathon starts with episode six of season one and bounces around between the first two seasons.

'Everybody Hates Chris'

BET
Saturday 10AM to 6:30PM
A total of 18 episodes of Chris Rock's all-too-real sitcom about the difficulties of childhood, starting with the pilot at 10AM.

'Rubicon'
AMC
Sunday, 9AM to 2PM
Your chance to catch up on this show from the beginning, with the premiere episode, and then a new episode at 9PM. Some have said this show is boring or a bit too smart for its own good. Perhaps AMC is commenting on this by showing a block of 'Three Stooges' from 5AM until 'Rubicon' starts.

'River Monsters'
Animal Planet
Sunday, 11AM to Monday, 5AM
Console yourself that others may be out swimming in fresh water with profiles of the critters that may be stalking them.

'Snapped'

Oxygen
Sunday 1PM to Tuesday 1AM
If you're planning on watching a marathon of a show dedicated to husband killers, perhaps you should go outside after all.

'Real Housewive of New Jersey''Hoarders'
A&E
8AM Monday to 2AM Tuesday
If you're going to show a big block of one show, 'Hoarders' makes perfect sense. A&E will interrupt this only once, to show 'Obsessed' at 11PM, then cap off programming for the day by showing 'Obsessed' again at 3AM on Tuesday. Message received, A&E.

'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'
Bravo
Monday, 10AM to Tuesday 12:30AM
If you live in New Jersey, a justification not to go outside, not only on Labor Day, but possibly ever. It's dangerous out there.

'Two and a Half Men'

FX
Monday, noon to midnight
FX kicks off its syndication of the show with a 12-hour "best of" block, starting with the pilot episode at noon. After Monday, 'Two and a Half Men' will air at various times during the week and Saturday evenings from 9PM to 11PM.

No Reservations. Anthony Bourdain comes off as a pompous stuck snob. You'd have to pay me to watch his show. As for the ones listed, those aren't going to be watched either. Especially the reality shows. About the biggest waste of TV air time ever. Might make an exception for River Monsters.

I agree with the first commenter, I would put No reservations well above any of the other shows on that list, with Rubicon being second. And I think if I watched a block of Two and a Half Men my brain might just be jelly at the end of it.

Isn't the Travel Channel doing its "No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain" marathon on Monday, in honor of the 100th episode that night?
