'Saturday Night Live' Update: Amy Poehler to Host Premiere, New Cast Members Confirmed

We knew she couldn't stay away from 'Saturday Night Live' for too long. Seven-year 'SNL' veteran Amy Poehler will return to host the show's 36th season premiere on Sept. 25 along with musical guest Katy Perry, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The 'Parks and Recreation' star, who left 'SNL' in 2008 after the birth of her first child with husband Will Arnett, has returned to host Weekend Update several times over the past two years, and was one of the illustrious women tapped to appear on last season's Mother's Day special.
In other 'SNL' news, EW confirmed that the four comedians rumored to be joining the cast as featured players this season -- Taran Killam, Paul Brittain, Vanessa Bayer and Jay Pharaoh -- have been officially hired. Pharaoh is likely to take over Barack Obama impersonation duties from Fred Armisen.
In addition, The New York Times reports that featured player Jenny Slate will not return to the show. Though we don't think she's leaving because of that infamous f-bomb she dropped on live TV during her first episode -- she did last the whole season, after all -- it certainly couldn't have helped. The news of Slate's departure follows last month's news that veteran cast member Will Forte was leaving to pursue different projects.
Tell us: Are you happy to have Amy Poehler back? What do you think of the cast shakeup?
