Craig Ferguson Pays Chris Kattan to Get Off His Show (Sort of) (VIDEO)

Man, there's nothing worse than a talk show host giving you money so that you'll leave. In fact, that's probably never happened before in the recorded history of television. Luckily, things don't get quite that bad on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS).

Host Craig Ferguson starts chatting with actor and comedian Chris Kattan. It seems that Chris has plans as soon as the interview is done -- he's promised to take his girlfriend and her female friend Riley out to dinner. So Ferguson decides to help the guy out by tossing him a few bucks. But Kattan gets pretty confused: "What's the money for?!" he says. "[Are you] paying me to leave?"

To add insult to injury, Craig only gives Chris about $5. The comedian tries to raise the stakes by asking for $500. Jeez! We know that Kattan hasn't been getting that much work lately -- but he can't be this broke, can he? It's all in good fun, though. We're sure Chris is doing just fine, money-wise.

There is another reason that the host may have wanted Kattan to leave. Chris annoyed Ferguson by thinking the host was "Irish." Here was Craig's reply to that: "I'M NOT IRISH!!!" Pay attention, Chris! He's a Scotsman! Don't be mixing up the Scottish and the Irish -- they hate that more than anything. Such an offense probably will get you kicked off of Craig's show.
