Recap: 'So You Think You Can Dance Canada' Onto the Sweet 16

by Sarah Kelsey, posted Sep 8th 2010 9:37AM

Right off the bat I only had one thought about tonight's episode: It's gonna be weird. Why? Because of the initial group performance choreographed by Mia Michaels. It was so 'Pulp Fiction,' androgynous and sexual. Perhaps it was in keeping with the previous episode's theme of "sex sells." Who knows? What made the whole thing weirder was the routine's quick finish. Faster than I could blink, we were onto the results portion of the show.

The bottom six this go-round wasn't that surprising (I called it all last night): Kirsten, Claudia and Julia rounded out the gals; Jera, Edgar and Jesse were on the chopping block for the boys.

I'm not sure what kind of moves Kirsten was doing to save her dancing self tonight; Claudia performed her typical moves (we get it, you're good at ballroom); and then there was Julia (that girls needs a better partner; she's so freaking good it scares me).

Jera just sort of ran around the stage (kind of reminding me of that werewolf from 'Twilight'); then came Edgar who actually danced his butt off (he's such a good dancer when he's in his element); and then there was Jesse, another exceptional dancer, who had the moves and energy he needed to stay in the competition.

What was weird and shocking about tonight's results was that Julia got the boot (did I not just say she danced amazingly!? I mean, c'mon judges, listen to me!). Not surprising was that Jera was sent packing on the boy's side.

Catch the next round of dance performances on Monday, Sept. 13 at 8PM on CTV.

Random Thoughts:
-- I can't believe I'm saying this again (hell may be freezing over): Leah Miller looked hot tonight. H.O.T. And when she started crying over the loss of Jera, I started crying. What is happening to me!?
