'America's Got Talent' Season 5, Episode 30 Recap

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Sep 9th 2010 1:15AM
America's Got Talent - Fighting Gravity['America's Got Talent' - 'Top 10 Result Show']

The Top 10 performers have offered us quality performances during their live shows, and deciding whom to vote for was not an easy task. The judges, especially Howie, were grateful that they didn't have to make the cut from 10 to four acts. Anonymous "America" had to make the difficult choices.

Did your favorite acts go through to the Top 4? Results coming up!

First up on the stage were Michael Grasso and Prince Poppycock. Piers was sure both would make the Top 4. I was too. The first act going to the finals is Prince Poppycock! Michael Grasso is a highly talented magician and, thanks to the 'AGT' exposure, he could start touring the U.S. and eventually end up with his own show one day on the Vegas Strip.

Performers from the Broadway show 'American Idiot' performed next.

Singers Michael Grimm and Taylor Matthews were up next. Nick said one will go through and one will go home. MIchael Grimm is the one moving on to the next round. Both singers are good but they should be on 'American Idol,' not 'America's Got Talent,' no?

Singer Sarah McLachlan performed her song 'Forgiveness.'

Jeremy and Christina & Ali came front and center to learn their fate. Nick announced that none of these acts were moving on. Jeremy has the skills to become a guest performer during X Games-type of competitions while Christina & Ali now have a good following.

Jackie Evancho and Anna & Patryk were next. It was with no surprise that Nick confirmed Jackie was moving on to the Top 4. Anna & Patryk showed that they are skilled dancers, especially for their young age, but the competition this season was too fierce for them to move on to the Top 4. Evancho is this summer's sensation. She alone made the boring YouTube 'AGT' special worth it.

Finally, Fighting Gravity and Studio One Young Beast Society were the final acts to come on stage. Week after week, both acts perfected their routines and offered us highly entertaining performances. The last act going to the finals: Fighting Gravity.

The Top 4 contestants are Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho and Fighting Gravity. I got three of the four picks right. What about you?

I'm torn between Prince Poppycock and Jackie Evancho as to who will win the competition. Whom do you think will be crowned the winner in the Top 4? Vote below!

Which of the Top 4 acts will win 'America's Got Talent' next week?
Prince Poppycock261 (37.6%)
Jackie Evancho204 (29.4%)
Fighting Gravity170 (24.5%)
Michael Grimm60 (8.6%)

Next week is finale week! The Top 4 will perform in a 60-minute live show, Tues. Sept. 14, 9PM ET on NBC. The live two-hour finale will air Wed. Sept. 15, 8PM ET on NBC. Mark your calendars!

Prince Poppycock was the only true show person!
Showmaship beyond belief. I didnt care for him at first and then realized he is the total package ...
always in character, incredibly creative and an amazing voice... All "Vegas Style"! Do wish his
last performance prior to voting had been more like his performance w/ Donna Summer. Yet, there was nothing wrong in showing his versatlity. Afterall.. Jacquie, as good as she is simply stood there and sang her songs. Where is Pier's brain!?
HOPE we have not seen the last of Prince Poppycock!!

I voted for Prince Poppycock last night, because I think he can put on a show, and has the versatility I would expect to see in Vegas. I would not pretend to know anything about Michael Grimm already having any kind of great job. It just doesn't ring a bell here. Anyway, I think all the acts in the last four are good, some really really good. I do not, however want to see a child win this contest. I have nothing against child talent, but Vegas is not where they belong, in my opinion. I was also disgusted with the Xing of Poppycock. It was a downer, and simply uncalled for, when it was America's night to vote, not Mr. Morgan's.

I voted for Price Poppycock last night. He should win! He has a great voice and multi talented entertainer, who I would pay to see a show. While Jackie can only sing, after one song I would be board. Side by side he is a clear winner.

I was a huge fan of Michael's until I found out today that he has not been portraying himself accurately. The "poor me" routine worked,..as I sure bought it lock stock and barrel. He actually has a successful career and contract in Las Vegas already performing as a headliner at the Green Valley Ranch Hotel and Casino,..the same hotel George Clooney has a private suite in. Just to give you a feel for how nice the place is. A local's favorite place as well. Why do people feel the need to pull heart strings to get ahead? The guy is very talented,..why couldn't he just be truthful,..sure didn't hurt Adam Lambert to lay it all out there did it???? I am so disappointed in him!!!

I think you're wrong in two areas: First, sure, Taylor Matthews could've done well on American Idol. Michael Grimm? Not a chance. He's not a teen idol pop singer... nor flamboyantly gay... I don't think he'd have gotten to a vote from American on Idol. He's where he belongs.

Jeremy at the X-Games? LOL! Wow... I guess that goes to show that you aren't TV Squad's reviewer for the X-Games... for if you were, I'd hope you'd know that what Jeremy does is called Trials bike riding. He isn't unique, he isn't even that great... he just did it live on that stage because he was the one there. Were he to go to the X-Games to "perform", he'd be laughed out of the stadium by the folks that are already doing that sort of thing for a living. A decade ago there were Japenese riders on Unbeatable Banzuke that would make Jeremy look like a preschooler riding a trike.

I found it interesting that the top 4 were the last 4 to perform. While I thought Michael Grasso was good, the last two illusions he performed were pretty obvious. It might have looked great in person, but running the DVR back clearly proved that we were right in how the trick was pulled off. I think America got it right with the top 4.
